It was Ruth who helped her father to come over the grief of Conor. In Eric’s 2007 autobiography, he has mentioned, 

“Ruth has been a tremendous support. I had no idea how much power a child could have on adult life, how much it can make you feel valid, unique and strong.”

Eric expresses gratitude for his son’s death

As we know, Eric had a son who died when he was only four years old. When asked if he wasn’t angry at God about his son’s death even when he is following Christianity? 

Eric’s constant reply was, “No.” He also explained that as a recovering alcoholic, his philosophy tells that, in a sense, he feels happy to have his son. 

Because late son gets him sober in one way. 

The reality was an existence that had allowed him to stop drinking or taking drugs, and Eric had spent four years with him as a sober human being and still am, Eric shared. 

The artist also says that the one thing that balances out is the gratitude for the fact that he had that moment and time with him but also expresses that it would be great if he had more time to spend with his dad.

He also shared about having a guitar that he had for a long time. Eric, at that time, wasn’t making any albums, but he just wrote. 

Eric shared how it had worked to calm him down. It worked as a tranquilizer for him and pointed it out as a safe anesthetic. 

Eric feels that’s the main reason why music is there, which had absolutely worked for him.
