Xavi Simons is a Dutch professional footballer playing for Bundesliga club RB Leipzig on loan from Ligue1 club Paris Saint-Germain and the Netherlands national team.

He is the son of professional football manager and former player Regillio Simons

Xavi is the son of professional football manager and former player, Regillio Simons and Peggy Simons. 

Regillio played for Dutch clubs including Fortuna Sittard and NAC Breda. 

Xavi in an interview said his father knows everything about football and he has always been an example to him.

He is named after former Barcelona midfielder Xavi Hernandez

Xavi's parents admired former Barcelona midfielder Xavi Hernandez so much that they named their son after him. 

Xavi also grew up idolizing him. During an interview with The Sun, he recalled meeting him.

He said he was with the Physio when Xavi went over and when he said his name is also Xavi, he laughed. 

"He is my idol. I know it's difficult but I will do everything to make it", he added.

He has two siblings 

Xavi has two siblings, an older brother Faustino who shares the same birthday as him, and a little sister. 

Growing up, he looked up to his brother who also played football. 

Xavi shares an incredibly close bond with his siblings, especially his brother.

The reason he left Barca

Xavi was seven years old when he joined Barca's La Masia Academy. 

His performance soon impressed one of the top clubs like Chelsea who attempted to sign him at his young age. 

He was represented by agent Mino Raiola from 2017 until he died in 2022. 

After failing to agree a new contract with Barcelona, Xavi moved to French side Paris Saint-Germain in 2019 and made his senior debut with the team in February 2021 coming as a substitute for Julian Draxler in a 1-0 Coupe de France victory over Caen. 

During an interview, Xavi stated that his decision to leave Barca was for the betterment of his future. 

He said that he decided to ship himself on another adventure thinking it would be good for his future aiming to play at the first team the fastest possible.

In another interview with ESPN, Xavi revealed a lack of gym work in Barca as compared to PSV. Barca doesn't do much work in the gym. 

They work with the ball not in the gym. At PSG, they work in the gym, he said.

Xavi is currently single so he doesn't have a girlfriend. As of now, he is focusing on his burgeoning football career.

While appearing on the Mind Set Win Podcast, Xavi discussed the mental tactics required to achieve success, the importance of having a strong mindset, and his life growing up in the spotlight. 

According to Xavi, one of the key lessons he learned is that one cannot expect to be perfect all the time no matter how talented one is. 

According to him, one of the strong mindsets is accepting that you are a human, and accepting that you are human is hard sometimes. 

"Sometimes it's hard to accept that you are human because you're in a bubble and you are led by an example, and you want to show everyone that you are there to perform. But you have weeks where you drop down and then you go up, so it's like full emotions - you have to keep a balance", he said.

While discussing his life growing up in the spotlight, he said being in the spotlight from an early age has never bothered him although it was hard in the beginning. 

He didn't know at the time what being the part of famous meant and the hardest part was to deal with people's judgment. 

Having his family in the back who has been supporting him and who not only talks about football but also life has been everything to him, especially his brother. 

He and his brother never talk about football unless they are watching a game. The mindset he has now is because of his family, he said.
