William Saliba

William Saliba is a French-born professional footballer who plays for Ligue 1 club Arsenal and the France national team. 

He plays as a centre-back. He was born William Alain Andre Gabriel Saliba.

Football mad from an early age 

Saliba was football mad from an early age. He said when he was little, he was always playing football and always loved football whenever he could remember. 

At the age of just three, he wanted to become a professional footballer, and when he grew older, it stayed his dream for his whole life. 

Though his family didn't like football as much as he did, they handed him a ball when he was small, and ever since, he has been playing football which was his only choice in sports. 

At six, he joined the club. He was coached by the father of Kylian Mbappe.

He has been an Arsenal fan throughout his life 

Not only has Saliba loved playing football since he was a kid, but he also loved watching football. 

According to Saliba, he watched all the Champions League games while he was growing up, and it was at that time he fell in love with Arsenal. 

He had an Arsenal shirt when he was about seven or eight years old. He grew up idolizing Thierry Henry. 

He was the one whom he looked up to the most, and he loved watching him. So, he had an Arsenal jersey with Thierry Henry [on the back].

Saliba is currently living his dream after signing a long-term contract with the club in July 2019. 

In an interview, he said he didn't think twice while signing for Arsenal though he had a choice between Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur because of his love for Arsenal. 

He was on loan to Nice and Marseille before returning to Arsenal ahead of the 2022-23 season.

Saliba was born to a Lebanese father, Brian Roberston, and a Cameroonian mother, Mrs. Saliba. According to the sources, both of his parents are no longer in this world.

He faced a one-month suspension ban over the snap chat video he posted

Saliba was subjected to an investigation by a disciplinary committee while he was playing for Nice on loan after the three years old Snapchat video resurfaced in February. 

The clip filmed by Saliba showed one of his France youth international teammates m*sturbating nakedly. 

For his activity, he was handed a one-month suspension ban. 

He wasn't always a defender

Saliba wasn't always a defender. He was a striker until he was 12 years old. He only changed his position when he changed the club. 

According to Saliba, he had a U15s coach named Abdallah who asked him what other position he could play since there were so many midfielders already there, after which he said he could play as a striker. 

His coach said they would test him as a defender, and Saliba played well. 

After the tournament, his coach said the defender was his new role, and that is what he would sign for. 

Since that day, Saliba has been playing as a defender. He even did a test as a striker at Bordeaux.
