A tough childhood

Wayne had a tough childhood growing up.

At a very young age, his stepfather hung him up in the attic, where he ended up getting twisted in a rope that caused him to lose circulation in his arms.

His younger brother was crying due to a cold, and he tried to reach his brother, but the rope tied him around his right arm.

His parents later ended up being arrested, and subsequently, they were removed from their home. Wayne went to 13 different foster homes.

For two and a half years, he did not use his arm. He was an athlete. He was good at football and basketball but could not play longer because of his arm.

He was not ready to be a husband and a father.

According to Wayne, he and his ex-wife Wanda Durant had their first child when he was 20, and she was 18 and had their second child when he was 23, and she was 21, and then they married without a clue.

From their union, they later delivered two more children. Altogether they shared three sons, Tony, Kevin, Rayvonne, and a daughter Brianna

Wayne, in an interview, committed to not having a clue about being a great father or a great husband because he was not prepared for that at the time.

They eventually got divorced. He abandoned his family when Kevin was an infant.

He was in and out of Kevin's life for many years and later reconnected when Kevin was 13 years old.

How his ex-wife managed to raise their four children as a single parent?

After he abandoned his family, his ex-wife became a single parent to their four children for several years.

Working overnights at the post office, she always made sure her kids had food on their tables.

She sacrificed her personal life so that her sons could play sports.
