Vernell Varnado is an actor known for his work in the films All Eyez on Me and Make It Rain, but he is best recognized for being a father to his Rap’s legend son, Snoop Dogg.

Vernell served as military personnel back in 1969 and later worked as a mail carrier.

He was also a Vietnam veteran singer.

Abandoned his wife and son

Vernell abandoned his wife after she gave birth to his son, Snoop, on 20th October in 1971.

He became an absentee father while his spouse became a single parent to raise her children.

He left them when Snoop was just three months old.

His wife later re-married Calvin Cordozar Broadus in 1970, but her relationship with him ended in divorce after five years of marriage.

Snoop Dogg was named Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr., after his step-father because of Vernell's absence in his son’s life.

Surprise vow renewal ceremony

Snoop married his high school sweetheart, Shante Taylor, in the year 1997.

Because of growing differences, the couple filed for divorce in 2004 after giving birth to their three children, Corde in 1994, Cordell in 1997, and only daughter, Cori Broadus in 1999.

However, the divorce procedure was cancelled.

At the time, the two were separated but were in terms of trying to sort things out.

In 2008, he organized a surprise vow renewal ceremony for his wife.

The ceremony was at Charli Wilson’s house, accompanied by 200 guests.
