Her parents were married for three years

Prior to marrying her father, her mother, Chante, was married to her childhood friend, whom she had dated in sixth grade. 

They secretly wedded before falling out of love in 1993 and filing for divorce. She then met her future husband, Kadeem. 

When they first met, they instantly fell in love but didn’t start dating. They became friends and started dating later. 

They welcomed Sophia in 1996 and got married the following year. But their marriage lasted for only three years. 

Although they are not together, they maintain a strong friendship. 

Chante, while talking about her relationship with her ex Kadeem, she said Kadeem is her friend and finds him so pleasant to be around and that he makes her laugh hard.

He added that he tried pushing her to that but felt she wanted something else that she could only answer. 

He also stated that going through a divorce is like death and that he was really dedicated to his marriage and loved her.
