Sheila Marie Ryan was an actress and a model mainly famous as an ex-spouse of the late Academy-award-winning actor James Caan.

She was in a relationship with Elvis Presley before Caan

Sheila was in a relationship with singer and actor Elvis Presley. 

Sheila, in an interview, said it was love at first sight for her when she saw Elvis in Las Vegas coming out from his dressing room with a towel around his neck as she was in a waiting room outside his dressing room. 

The very first thing that happened was their eyes met which she described to be magical. "It doesn't happen any more instant that happened. It was fate", she said.

She recalled Elvis throwing a grape at her and hitting her in the forehead. She said Joe Esposito told her that he did it on purpose. 

He was fifteen feet away, and she was playing cool after their eyes met, and although his girlfriend was there at the time, it didn't matter to her. 

He was constantly apologizing, kneeling, and making her feel uncomfortable as his girlfriend watched. 

However, they didn't get to talk to one another as Elvis had to leave. 

After two days, Joe called her to say that his boss had fallen for her and wanted to see her. They soon started dating. 

Elvis was dating her and actress Linda Thompson at the same time, and she and Linda were sort of running a race. 

"At first, he was seeing her, then I came along, and then it was sort of like a horserace. We were neck and neck, and then I fell behind, and then she, you know, she expressed. 

She and Elvis dated for two years.

Sheila also shared that marriage was something she considered or was looking for, but Linda wanted to marry him.

Her marriage to Caan was short-lived. They got married in 1966 but called it quits the following year. 

However, from their marriage union, they gave birth to a son, Scott Caan, in August 1976. She primarily raised Scott. 

Before marrying her, Caan was married to Dee Jay Mathis. 

Following their divorce, Caan remarried twice. After her, he married Ingrid Hajek in 1990. They were married for four years. 

He then married Linda Stokes in 1995. His marriage to Stokes lasted for 22 years.

During an interview with Esquire, Caan said he got a prescription to stay at Playboy Mansion for a while to get over his divorce. 

Also, in an interview with People, he said that Scott also spent time at the Mansion. He humorously said he would have Scott bring him girls.

Scott followed in his father’s footsteps. He is an actor. Besides that, he is also a photographer, director, writer, and a former rapper. 

Scott, in an interview, when asked about his father’s best acting advice, said the first piece of advice he gave to him was to stay away from this (acting) business and that it shouldn’t be more important than his family.

Her ex-husband passed away at the age of 82

Her ex-husband, James Caan, passed away on the 6th of July, 2022, at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles at the age of 82. 

He suffered from cardiac arrest. He also had chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and congestive heart failure at the time of his death. 

Scott, in an interview, while talking about his father’s death, said he wasn’t happy at the end of his life and was having a rough time. 

He said it was sort of relief in the sense that he wouldn’t have to suffer anymore. He was like a quarter horse who couldn’t run anymore.

He spent his whole life being active and running around and then jammed up for the last few years of his life, which was hard to watch, he added.
