An impending divorce

Samantha and Tyrese announced their separation on the 30th of December 2020 in a joint statement. 

Along with their announcement of separation, they also stated their intention to remain best of friends and co-parents. 

Their journey together was a ride of both ups and downs, but it was a journey which neither of them would chosen to take with anyone else.

According to the sources, Samantha filed for divorce three months before Tyrese announced the split claiming that Tyrese had cut her off financially and locked her and their then two-year-old daughter out of the family Georgia's home, which Tyrese later denied. 

However, talking about the split, Tyrese said Samantha confronted him after he flew back from the movie set in August, which led to a three-hour conversation where Samantha threatened to call the police. 

He added leaving their home in Uber fearing police interaction due to multiple public incidents involving police brutality and racially motivated killings of unarmed African American people.

Samantha never thought she would date or marry a celebrity until she found Tyrese. 

After the overwhelming experiences of dating and marrying a celebrity, she suggests being cautious while dating a celebrity but would not recommend dating them as far as possible.

As per her, many women want a certain type of Notoriety and being with a certain guy, but that is not where the validity comes from. It comes from God alone, and it does not matter who you are with. 

She stated celebrity to be a self-made man and went on to say that there are a lot of women who want self-made men, and at the end of the day, those self-made men are accustomed to getting their way, and since there are a lot of women, they can pick and choose and able to do whatever. 

She further added that as a woman, we value security and value being with a man who can provide and protect us, and the men who can do on a higher level feel like they have way more options. 

According to her, if the man is in the limelight, it is very rare to find out those who say, "I am going to work for this relationship or what I want."

Mom to one 

Samantha is the mother of her beautiful daughter, whom they have named Soraya Lee Gibson. 

Samantha and Tyrese gave birth to Soraya on the 1st of October, 2018. However, Tyrese is not only the father of Soraya but also his other daughter Shayla Somer Gibson whom he shares with his ex-wife. 

He was previously married to Norma Mitchell Gibson from 2007 to 2009. Their daughter Shayla was born in 2007.

Custody battle

According to the divorce documents she filed, she requested $20,000 per month for child support, but Tyrese found the requested amount unreasonably high and asked the judge to block it.

In December 2020, Samantha further claimed that their child is at risk of financial abandonment from her father.

During a podcast Dear Future Wife, Samantha revealed that her daughter has a strong relationship with her father and that she never wanted anything that she would do to get in the way of that. 

Until and unless they are healthy and not causing harm to their children if they desire to be a parent, she suggests not to get in the way of that relationship because of their brokenness, bitterness, or forgiveness and not put on the child because they suffer.
