It was in 2002 when Sporting CP last won the championship title.

His wife is an interior designer

His wife Maria studied Engineering along with Interior design specialization from Lisbon School of Design

She and her partner Raquel Viana have launched Dois Tons, where they design interior projects focusing on customer satisfaction, taking into account their choice of preferences, lifestyle, and personality.

Their services include interior projects for housing and commercial spaces, temporary home leases, tourist leases, 3D and lightings projects, etc.

Succeeded in clearing doubt

Ruben had an incredible playing career at Benfica. He won ten major titles, including three Primeira Liga Championships and was part of two FIFA World Cups representing Portugal

After retiring from the playing career, he started his coaching career with the third division team Casa Pia but soon departed following a year suspension for giving match instructions.

He later agreed to become the U-23 head coach at Benfica but changed his mind and joined Braga's reserve. Three months later, he was on the first team and later led the team to win the Domestic League Cup

He only had two months of top-flight experience but was paid the third-highest transfer fee by Sporting CP, which was indeed a risk.

He had to go through the controversy after the national coaches complained of having not been qualified for the head coach positions and demanded his suspension.

Talking in favor of Ruben, Sporting stated that there was no legal basis for his suspension.

Ruben was able to clear the doubts by proving himself, bringing the team back to its form, and leading them to win a major title.

Ruben was a year and a half when his parents decided to part ways.

But having gone through his parent's divorce at such an early age did not affect him and his career as he got enough support from both his parents that did not allow him to feel abandoned.
