Rosa Maqueda

Rosa Maqueda is the beautiful spouse of a Spanish professional football manager and a former player, Julen Lopetegui.

He is the current manager of Sevilla. As a former player, he represented his country in the FIFA World Cup. 

Rosa is serving as an administrator of her family company Depor-Tegui which is dedicated to managing the image rights of her husband, Julen. Julen is a former Real Madrid and Spain manager.

Her brother introduced her to her future spouse

Rose is the sister of former midfielder Juan Jose Maqueda. Her brother Juan first introduced her to Julen, who was his teammate while playing for Real Madrid in 1989. 

The couple dated for years before walking down the aisle in the early 90s. They are inseparable since then.

Mother of three

From her beautiful marriage, the couple gave birth to their three beautiful children, Jon, Daniel, and Maria, who are 25, 20, and 17, respectively. 

Her son Daniel is also a footballer. Rose, along with her children, usually remains out of the spotlight. 

The last time the family were seen together accompanying when Julen was unveiled as Real Madrid manager.

Her husband was sacked from the two biggest jobs before he lifted the cup with Sevilla

Her husband, Julen, had a bad time, having lost the two biggest jobs of his life in five months. 

He was sacked from his managerial post at Spain just two days before the 2018 World Cup after he revealed accepting the managerial offer at Real Madrid. 

He lost his second-biggest job just after four months at the helm of Real Madrid. He said those moments of his life to be unforgettable because he felt it was unfair for him. 

But at the same time, he also felt that there is a need of taking those experience as an advantage and put into a positive situation though it’s difficult. 

According to him, the one positive thing is that when you have such experiences in life, then you are ready for whatever comes in life. 

He was appointed the manager of Sevilla in 2019. Only in his first season he was able to prove himself, leading the team to qualify for the Champions League finishing in fourth place, and finally 2020 UEFA League title, a historic moment.

Does he enjoy success?

Rosa usually questions her husband if he enjoys success, to which he replies, saying he enjoys it in his way. 

According to him, there will not be enough time to enjoy success because as soon as the game is over, you have to prepare for the next one. 

The focus will shift to the next goal leaving the past. The profession does not allow one to enjoy at fullest of their achievements, and if one does not go with the mentality, then you will be giving advantage to others.

Her in-laws were stone lifters

Her in-laws, Julen’s father Jose Antonio Lopetegui, and his uncle Luis were stone lifters. 

Her father-in-law was best recognized by his nickname name Aguerre II and had an outstanding record, out of which the most notable one included 22 lifts in one minute with 100-kilo cylindrical stone. 

According to Julen, he is still as strong as an ox. At the age of 90, he celebrated Julen’s victory, smoking cigars along with drinking whiskey. 

Sadly Julen’s mother was not there to celebrate because she passed away the year before.
