His ex-wife Melanie Maynard during an interview with BBC breakfast, opened up her struggles and sacrifices she made throughout their kids’ childhood.
She revealed doing three jobs without which she would not have been able to cook a pot of food.
She said of Marcus telling the story from how he sees it, and the words he has been saying are from his bottom of the heart.
Recalling her past, she added that sometimes the situation would be so bad that she would instead feed her kids rather than herself.
There were times when she didn’t get anything to eat and when her kids asked if she have had hers, then for their satisfaction, she would reply saying she had.
And sometimes, they didn’t have a loaf of bread in the house. Hearing his mom, Marcus replied, saying he did not see all the struggles and sacrifices she made as a weakness but helped appreciate everything ten times more.
As per him, in sports, one has to have something behind that keeps pushing. When one comes from pain and struggle and pain, it switches and becomes one’s drive and motivation.
