Page was born in the village of Llwynypia, Wales, and grew up in the nearby village of Tylorstown.
His father, Malcolm Page, had set up a football team called Tylorstown boys.
Page said his dad got a team together, and they would drive around on Sundays knocking players out of bed.
His mother would wash the kits, and every week, their kits would be hanging out on the washing line.
Page was 11 when he first went to Watford after a former Wales International, Tom Walley, noticed him while working in the youth set-up.
Page says it would have been impossible for him if his dad had not had that commitment to keep taking him up to London.
His managerial career
Page hung up his boots in 2011 at the age of 36 at Chesterfield. In 2011 he was offered a coaching role at League Two club, Port Vale, for the second time.
For the first time, he was offered in 2009, but he opted to play for Chesterfield.
In 2014 he became the manager, and two years later, he was appointed as Northampton manager on a three-year contract but was sacked later.
The following year he became the Wales Under-21 team manager. In 2019, he was appointed assistant coach to the Senior Wales squad under manager Ryan Giggs.
In November 2020, Giggs was arrested, after which he stepped up and took charge with the support of Albert Stuivenberg.
On the 1st of May, it was decided that Page was the manager and then the World Cup qualifiers.
Page is all set to lead the Wales national team to World Cup in Qatar
Page stepped up as an Interim manager after Wales manager Ryan Giggs stepped aside from his role in November 2020 after being charged with domestic violence with the trial in August.
Though he denied all the allegations of controlling and coercive behavior against his former girlfriend Kate Greville and pleaded not guilty to all charges, he decided to step back from his role as a manager of the Wales national team.
In his statement, he wrote he is standing down from his position as a manager of the Wales men’s national team with immediate effect after much consideration.
He also stated that though managing his country has been an honor and privilege, it is only right that the Wales FA, the coaching staff, and the players prepare for the tournament with certainty, clarification, and without speculation around the position of their head coach.
He concluded by wishing the players, staff, and supporters at the FAW every success at the World Cup and in the future.
Page recently revealed that the contract with Wales has been extended and that he will be leading the team to the World Cup after securing their qualification in Qatar.
He led Wales to their first World Cup since 1958 after a 1-0 victory over Ukraine.
Gareth Bale, who is regarded as the greatest Welsh player of all time, said he thinks Page is the long-term manager and that there is no question in the changing room or from the fans.
He added that Page had done an incredible job coming in, in difficult circumstances, and everyone has a great relationship with him. He further added,
I guess that’s why you achieve big things when your team is happy, and your manager is doing well.
