Richie Shelton was famous as the brother of popular singer and television personality Blake Shelton.

When and how did he lose his life?

Richie was just 24 years old when he lost his life. In the year 1990, in Rural Oklahoma, he, along with his 20-year-old girlfriend and her son, met a violent accident. 

According to Country Fan Cast, his girlfriend was driving the car over a hill when her car all of a sudden bumped into the back of a school bus picking up passengers. 

The accident claimed not only the life of Richie but also his girlfriend and her 3-year-old son. Blake was just 14 years old at the time.

His death left a long-lasting impact on his family members, especially his brother.

His untimely death not only left his family and loved ones heartbroken but also left a long-lasting impact, especially on his brother Blake. 

To heal the pain Blake Shelton and his former wife Miranda Lambert co-wrote an award-winning ballad song, "Over You," in 2011.

According to Blake, his brother's death brought a void into his world, which he still is not able to get over it. Blake honors him even today. 

About his parents 

Richie was born to his parents, mother Dorothy Shelton, and father, Ronnie Musgrove. 

His parents got divorced while he was just two years old. His mother later remarried Richard Shelton and ended up changing his surname to Shelton. 

According to Richie's paternal grandmother, Dorothy did not want her son Richie to know about his father and his family and was taken away from his father. 

Richie did not get to see his father during his childhood as he was with his new family. 

He got to know about his birth father after he grew older, after which he visited his father and grandmother. 

His father, Ronnie, sadly passed away in 2004.

His mother is in a marital bond with her third husband

After her divorce from her second husband, Richard Shelton, she remarried for the third time to Mike Shackleford. 

They are currently residing in Oklahoma. Dorothy is the co-owner of a store named Junk Stars based in Oklahoma. 

She also penned a song, "Time For Me To Come Home," with her son Blake.

How many siblings does he have?

He was the only son of his parents, Dorothy and Ronnie. His half-brother Blake and half-sister Endy Shelton were born from his mother's second marriage. 

Endy is a jewelry designer and is married to her husband, Mike. Richie was close to both his half-siblings.

Wedding 

The power couple Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani got married in 2021.

Shelton shared the news of aiming to exchange wedding vows in summer with Hoda Kotb, show host of "Today." 

The couple got engaged in October 2020 after dating for five years.

Began performing while young

Blake started not only performing but also began songwriting at a young age while he was attending high school. 

During one of his performances, he was captured by one of the established songwriters named Mae Boren Axton. Mae supported him, encouraged him, and praised him too. 

After two weeks of graduating high school, he shifted to Nashville, where Mae also lived. 

Mae helped and offered him a job painting houses and introducing young Blake to people in the music industry. 

In 1997, Blake met with a songwriter and producer named Bobby Braddock. Bobby helped Blake with his recording contract with Giant Records. 

In the year 2001, Blake recorded the “Austin” song. It was a love ballad written as a series of answering machine messages, whereas Giant published it to country stations. 

The song rose to number 1 on Billboard’s country singles chart. Not only this, it made it into 18 on the Hot 100 listing. 

Moreover, he published his debut album in July 2001, and it also came on the number three country album.
