Richard Shelton, Father Of Blake Shelton

Richard Shelton was famous as a beloved father to an Award-winning country singer and "The Voice" coach Blake Shelton. 

Before becoming the salesman for Chaprell Dodge and Kubota Tractors, Richard owned and operated J.R.'s cars until his retirement in 2010.

Married to a beauty salon owner

He was married to a beauty salon owner, Dorothy Shelton. It was a second marriage for Dorothy. Before Richard, she had a husband named Ronnie Musgrove. 

But Richard and Dorothy marriage could not last, and they ended up in divorce. 

Following his divorce, he tied knot to Terrie Ann Hortan Delozier, on the 17th January 1997. They remained in marital bliss until his death.

His ex-wife has established her name in the entertainment industry

His ex-wife, who used to own a beauty salon in the small hometown Ada, Oklahoma, entered into the entertainment industry and has successfully established her name. 

She is an author and a songwriter. She has written dozens of songs and has also collaborated with her son. 

She tied knot for the third time to her husband, Mike Shackleford, and became Dorothy Shackleford. Dorothy is currently residing in Oklahoma with her husband.

Father to his five children 

He was a father to his five three children. Out of his five children son, Blake and daughter Endy Intrieri are from his marriage with Dorothy. 

After his marriage to Dorothy, he adopted her son Richie who was from her first marriage. Unfortunately, Richie Shelton tragically died at the age of 24 in 1990. 

He met a dreadful car accident in rural Oklahoma which not only claimed his son's life but also other two people who were in the car, including a three-year-old boy. 

His daughter Endy is a jewelry designer and is married to her husband, Mike. Both Blake and Endy were completely devastated by the death of Richie and still remembers him. 

Richard's other two children were from his second marriage. He had a daughter Philesia Anderson and a son Terrell Delozier. 

Surrounded by loved ones on his death bed

Richard's health deteriorated rapidly in 2011, and he was hospitalized with pneumonia in early December of the year. 

The same year on the 5th December, Blake was awarded American Country Award. During the acceptance speech, he dedicated the award to his father remembering his poor health. 

His father took his last breathe on the 17th January 2012. He was surrounded by loved ones on his death. Blake canceled several tours to be on his side.

A fountain has been constructed dedicating him 

Four years after his death, a fountain was constructed at St. Anthony hospital of Shawnee, Oklahoma. The fountain is in the new wing of the hospital. 

Shelton shared the proud moment via Twitter, expressing his gratitude to Dr. Haddad and St. Anthony Hospital. 

Wedding plans 

Blake is tying the knot to his long-time girlfriend turned fiance singer and voice co-star, Gwen Stefani. 

When asked about their wedding plans, Gwen replied that she wanted her parents in attendance at her wedding, and since it was COVID, it would still be too many people even if you cut down to only families. 

They wanted to see few more months to decide whether to go for a small or big wedding. It will be the second wedding of Gwen and the third to Blake. 

Blake was previously married to Kaynette Gern from 2003-2006 and singer Miranda Lambert from 2011-2015, while Gwen to guitarist and singer Gavin Rossdale.
