Randal Kolo Muani

Randal Kolo Muani is a French-born professional footballer who plays for the Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt and the France national team.

Kolo Mauni was born in Bondy to Congolese parents. He was raised alongside his brother in Villepinte, where his parents still reside.

Besides that, he is super close to his family, who has been supporting him since he ever started playing football. 

He said his father never misses any of his games, and sometimes he would be there three or four days before the game.

His football journey 

During an interview with Vista, Kolo Mauni reflected on his football journey so far. He said he first did the tests in Serie c and eventually in Serie B. 

He was more excited to go to Serie B because, after the U17 nationals, he had nothing left and didn’t want to continue. 

He wanted to either leave or do something. 

He did the Serie C test in his first year and Serie B in the second year, and the preparation was going well, but his father didn’t see it that way. 

His father once called him and asked him what was going on. He asked him about the contracts and everything, but he didn’t know anything at the time. 

His father informed him that his school was starting soon and he needed to be back home, to which he refused because he wanted to stay there at any cost. 

He thought football was over and cried the whole night after the call thinking about what he was going to do.

He got home, after which he started meeting his agent. It was his father who would talk to his agents more than him. 

He played for several clubs in Paris before he joined Nantes’ youth academy at the age of 15 before he signed a professional contract with the club in 2018.

Kolo Mauni said he was nothing at all at 17. He was just training and was listening to his parents and his agent.

He replaced Nkunku in FIFA World Cup Squad

Kolo Mauni was called up by manager Didier Deschamps lately to the World Cup 2022 squad.

He replaced RB Leipzig striker Christopher Nkunku who was ruled out of the tournament after he suffered an injury during training. 

He was called on the 16th of November, 2022, to replace the injured Nkunku. 

In September 2022, Kolo Mauni received his first call-up for two UEFA Nations League matches to represent the national team. 

During an interview, he recalled an emotional moment when he got his first France call-up. 

He said he was not expecting to find his name in Deschamps’ squad, but his brother and friends had told him that there were reports that he would be included, so he turned on the T.V. to watch the press conference.  

When he heard his name, he was literally shocked. He was on the phone with his brother and told him he would catch him later to call up his dad. 

His mother was crying, insanely proud, he explained.

Frankfurt has no plan to give Kolo Mauni up next summer despite interest from big clubs

Since joining Frankfurt on March 2022, he has appeared in 14 games. 

He stood out as one of the promising talents scoring five times and providing 11 assists in the Bundesliga matches in his 14 appearances. 

With his performance, he has attracted interest from some of the big clubs. 

Frankfurt’s sporting director Markus Kroshe interview revealed that it’s definitely not in their plan to give him up next summer and stated that they are the right place for him, and it would help him in his development to be with them in the years to come.
