Peter Culpo

Peter Culpo is the father of an American media personality, actress, and former Miss Universe, Olivia Culpo. 

Culpo is a restaurateur. He is of Italian descent. As a restaurateur, Culpo has stakes in several restaurants in the Boston area.

His wife is a professional viola player

Susan Curran, is a professional viola player. The couple first met in an Orchestra at college. Olivia inherited her musical talent from her mother. 

She plays cello, and not to mention she credits her parents for her musical talents because they made her to do the all-state orchestra, made her do high school orchestra, take private lessons. 

At the time, she thought that her parents were torturing her, but then she realized that was not the case as it was for her betterment. 

She was always on stage playing cello and was always comfortable on stage, making it easy for her to get into pageants. 

As parents, Peter and his wife thought the idea of doing a beauty pageant was terrible

Peter and Susan's initial reaction when Olivia popped out the idea of doing a beauty pageant was not supportive at all.

They thought it was a terrible idea and was vain. Peter later revealed that they knew nothing about the beauty pageant. 

The reason behind not being supportive might be because they were never about make-up or hair. 

As for Susan, she never wore a beauty product, not even a face cream, so they were not into promoting beauty products, wearing revealing clothes, etc. 

Since she was so passionate about making it in the fashion industry, she managed to compete in Miss Rhode Island. 

Olivia revealed stealing the cheque of her parents when the agency asked her to pay $30 since she had no money. 

At the competition, she wore a $20 rental dress with a hole in the back and ended up winning the title, then won Miss USA and Miss Universe in 2012.

Father of five children 

Peter is the father of his five children, whom he shares with his wife, Susan. Olivia is the middle child. 

Olivia has two elder siblings, Pete and Aurora, and two younger siblings, Gus and Sophia. All of his children have musical talents. 

He put his daughter on the diet when Olivia was 10

While discussing their childhood and upbringing on the Emergency Contact podcast, Olivia and her sister Aurora Culpo recalled their childhood memories where Olivia confessed how she saw herself compared to her sister. 

According to her, she felt she was really ugly with a different look and saw her sister as a Barbie doll and herself as an ugly duckling. 

She was overweight and had to look herself into the mirror and say, "Ok, you are different because she felt she was different. 

The sisters were revealed to be put on a diet when she was just 10 years old. Olivia went on to say that her father was amazing but like Type A, who had run over a dozen of marathons. 

She admitted being put on a diet when she was just 10, but at the same time, it made her realize that when you put in the work, you get the results. 

Though it might have been difficult for a 10-year-old Olivia to go on such diets at such an early age, in the long run, it helped her to stay fit throughout.

Olivia got an inspiration to own a restaurant from him

For Olivia owning a restaurant had been her dream since an early age. Born to a restaurateur father, she loved being a part of it, feeling the family vibe, and making people happy and comfortable. 

Her dream came true in 2017 when she opened a new restaurant in Rhode Island under the name Back 40 with her family, where she and Peter are silent financiers.

Olivia was asked to cover up her dress while traveling to Mexico

Olivia, along with her sister Aurora and her football player boyfriend Christian McCaffrey, was traveling to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, in January, but before boarding their flight, Olivia was called on a desk and asked her to cover her dress. 

According to Aurora, the American Airlines officials asked her to put on a blouse to cover the sports bra she was wearing; otherwise, they would not let her get on the plane. 

Olivia shared their story via her Instagram story with a video of Olivia's outfit where she was seen wearing a sports bra, long black Cardigan, biker shorts, and a face mask.

Later poking fun at American Airlines, Olivia posted a picture of her on her Instagram in an open-sided dress with the caption, 

Please use caution while using the overhead bins as items may have shifted during flight.
