Paula Batet is famous as the girlfriend of Spanish-born professional footballer Pau Torres, who plays as a centre-back for Villarreal and the Spain national team.

Born in a family linked to architecture, Batet was passionate about drawing from an early age and enjoyed handling the plans her father had. 

After getting specialized in her training at the Superior Technical School of Architecture of Madrid in interior architecture, she worked for several years in Italy.

The reason behind turning down a move to Tottenham Hotspur last Summer

Torres was offered a lucrative deal from Hotspur last summer, but he turned the offer down. 

In an interview, he admitted that his agents called him to inform him that there was an important offer from Tottenham with an offer to get paid more than what he was getting paid. 

But he decided to play for his hometown club. He decided to stay where he was happy. 

Loyal to his hometown club, Torres was attracted to playing in the Champions League for his hometown club ahead of World Cup. 

As per the Guardian, he was offered €60 million and a salary four times higher than at Villarreal. He said to Guardian,

“The pull of playing the Champions League with the team from my town was bigger. I was clear from the start”,  

Playing in the Champion league with his lifelong club was his dream.  

In another interview, he said he is fine at home, living with his family in his town and playing for the club that has given him everything since he was little and treated him like a son.

Torres was five when he joined Villarreal youth academy and moved to the academy's youth ranks. 

He made his league debut at the age of 19 with the club’s reserve team Villarreal B in 2016 before making his first team debut, replacing Victor Ruiz on the 20th of December the same year and becoming the first player born in Villarreal to debut in the club in 13 years. 

He played his first La Liga match in November 2017 and, soon after ten days, made his UEFA Europa League debut.
