Patson Daka

Patson Daka is a Zambian-born professional footballer who plays for Leicester City and the Zambian national team as a forward. 

Daka made his international debut at the age of 16 with his hometown club Kafue Celtic.

His father was a former footballer

Daka was born to his father, Nathtali, who was a former footballer. 

He grew up seeing his father play as a winger for the local club Nitrogen Stars in Kafue. 

His father’s playing career was derailed by the injury due to which he had to give up at an early age. 

Giving up his playing career did not stop him from taking his son to see the matches in Kafue Celtic. 

He had said that his son was going to make the director of Celtic, Lee Kawanu, happy, bringing him the good things, and like he said when Lee spotted him after 4 years in the reserve team shooting in every way possible, right, left, inside, and outside the box. 

At first, he did not realize that he was Nathtali’s son. Sadly his father passed away, but the dream he saw for his son to make him a great footballer has become true.

Red Bull Salzburg was the first club that believed in his potentiality

Daka’s football journey began with Kafue Celtic, who provided him with all the opportunities to succeed. 

He was then loaned to several clubs in Zambia like Power Dynamos, Green Buffaloes, Nchanga Rangers before being loaned to Austrian club Liefering. 

While playing in Zambia, he was spotted by the armada of recruiters from Salzburg. 

Salzburg saw the potentialities in him that was never perceived while he was at Kafue Celtic. They saw in him the things that even he was unaware of.

Daka initially started with the reserve team of the Red Bull team, Liefering, before signing with Red Bull Salzburg in 2017. 

He soon proved that their belief in him was not wrong, contributing the team to UEFA youth league victory scoring two goals in two games, and scoring against Genk in the 2019-20 UEFA champions league. 

He scored a brace in a 3-1 victory over Maccabi Tel Aviv in the 2020-21 UEFA championship qualification round. 

He was named Austrian Bundesliga player and top scorer in the 2020-21 season, contributing the team to their fourth successive league title victory.

Contributing to the team to succeed as a persistent player is his main goal. 

He is happy and content with his performance so far and wishes to continue with the same flow and contribute to the team as much as he can. 

To fulfill his goal, he has taken players like Sadio Mane and Naby Keita as an inspirational and motivational factor. 

According to him, Sadio and Naby have inspired him in so many ways in personality and professionalism, and also, they have come from Africa like him. 

He strongly believes that if they can make it, then he can also.

His playing styles vary according to the situation of the game and the kind of opponents he is playing against. 

As a striker, the most important thing for him is to give everything to the team and make sure that the team gets the desired result even if he is not scoring in some games. 

When he is not scoring, if he can only assist in scoring goals makes him happier. 

It does not matter if he is scoring or not as long as he plays a part in contributing to the victory.

Broke up with his long-term girlfriend

Daka was in a relationship with his long-term girlfriend Grace Perez, a native of Zambia. 

Grace is the owner of graceperez_fashion, an online clothing brand. 

The couple had been dating since 2016, and after nearly six years of their relationship, they have called it quits.  

The couple was open to their relationship and used to share pictures of them on their social media posts which are now no more available since they have deleted the posts. 

According to the sources, he dumped his long-term girlfriend for another girl whose name is not revealed.

Net Worth

After signing with Leicester City on the 30th of June, 2021, he scored his first goal for the club on 16th October, and on the 20th of October, he created history, scoring all four goals in a 4-3 victory over Spartak Moscow in the 2020-21 UEFA Europea League. 

By scoring the four goals, he became the first Leicester player to score four since 1958. 

There is no doubt that Daka is going to be another big name in football history.
