Oliver Elfman is famous as a celebrity kid. 

He is the son of Oscar-nominated and Emmy and Grammy-winning film composer, singer, and songwriter Danny Elfman. 

His mother is Emmy-nominated actress Bridget Fonda, best known for her roles in The Godfather III, Single White Female, Point Of No Return, etc.

Why did his mom retire from an acting career? 

His mother retired from her acting career in 2002 after a number of critically acclaimed films. 

She survived a serious car accident in February 2003 in Los Angeles that resulted in a fracture in a vertebra. She quit acting to focus on her family. 

Since then, she has stayed away from the spotlight. 

She was seen in 2009 while attending the premiere of Quentin Tarantino’s World War II flick Inglorious Bastards and in September 2022, Daily Mail spotted her while she was doing some shopping. 

She also said to have given up her acting career to look after Oliver. She was spotted lately in April at Los Angeles Airport alongside Oliver. 

When the paparazzi asked if she was returning to Hollywood anytime soon, she said No. “It’s so nice to be a civilian,” she added.

He has two half-sisters 

Oliver has two elder half-sisters, Lola and Mali, born to his father from his previous relations. 

Prior to marrying his mother, his father was married to Geri Eisenmenger, with whom he shares two daughters. 

Mali has followed in her father’s footsteps. She is a film producer. She collaborated with her father on her 2011 film Do Not Disturb.

Similarly, before marrying his father, his mother was in a long-term relationship with American actor, director, and producer, Eric Stoltz.

Elfman is best known for his long-time partnership with American filmmaker and animator Tim Burton. 

In 1985, he got a call from Tim and Paul Reubens to write the score for their first feature film Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure. 

According to Elfman, he initially thought it must have been for the song as he was in the band Oingo Boingo at the time. 

When he met Burton and knew he was interested in the score, it sort of caught him off-guard because he had never done it before. 

Although he tried and sent the demo to Burton, he never expected to get the job. To his surprise, he got a call two weeks later saying he got the job. 

It started from there and has done 16 films together since then, including Beetle Juice, Batman, Corpse Bride, and The Nightmare Before Christmas. 

During an interview with the Los Angeles Times, he said he was a jerk from a rock band until he met Burton, and doing every single score for Burton was the best thing that ever happened to him. 

When he did his first score to Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure, Elfman was amazed that it wasn’t thrown out, and with that, Beetle Juice came along, and he did that too. 

Then he got a call from his old friend, Martin Brest, for the movie Midnight Run. 

He said Midnight Run was his first time doing something that was a little more low-key serious but still humorous. 

For him, Batman was and is still the most difficult and challenging experience he had in his life. He had only done comedies until that time. 

He recalled nobody wanting him to be part of the film except Burton. 

According to him, John Peters was in the room during his second or third presentation, and he found difficulty in presenting music to a producer because he didn’t have the idea until at that point. 

Burton asked him to play the March, and suddenly, after he played the March, Peters started conducting in the room that, provided the hint that they were in. 

He got the job and finished the score. 

By the time Elfman and Burton did Edward Scissorhands, both of them were feeling more confident in their abilities to do things together. 

When they were doing The Nightmare Before Christmas, both of them were clueless about how to start a musical. 

Burton would go to his home with the sketches and tell him a little bit of the story. It took Elfman three days to write each song. 

With ten songs, they went to the studio and spent a night recording all the voices for all the songs other than Sally song.
