Chestnut and Ricasa had been dating for three years before Chestnut proposed to her in 2014, just before Nathan's hot dog-eating contest. 

It was a complete surprise for Ricasa as she had not expected it at that moment. 

Chestnut went down on his knee and proposed to her, saying that it's been the best three years of his life and that he could not live without her. 

Ricasa's answer was yes. However, the couple parted ways the following year prior to their scheduled wedding date.

Ricasa moved on with her life following her break-up with Chestnut. She dated Drew Ely for three years before marrying him on the 3rd of August 2019. 

They are still together. The couple shares two kids, a son, Dexter, and a daughter, Harley.

How did her ex Joey Chestnut get into eating, and how he prepares for Nathan’s Hot Dog Contest?

During The Transition podcast, Joey talked about how he got into eating and prepared for Nathan’s Hot Dog eating contest. 

According to Chestnut, he was always the biggest eater in the family, and it was something he was always ashamed of. 

His mother would get mad at him, telling him he needed to save for his brothers too. 

His little brother, who was the biggest fan of Japanese competitive eater, Takeru Kobayashi, thought he would beat him and sign him for the contest. 

Since Chestnut was shy and embarrassed about eating too much, he didn’t get to the first contest, and in the second contest, the organizer told him that he would be given a free hotel room if he went to the contest. 

He was 21 at the time. He said it was the casino that sold it for him because the hotel has a casino. 

As soon as he got on the stage, the very first time, he was like, “ Oh My God,” he recalled. 

Chestnut says once he starts eating, he is like he wants to eat more. 

He doesn’t feel full as fast as most people, but at the same time, he can go a day and a half without eating also, which allows him to do a cleanse. 

He makes sure that he goes into every contest pretty empty. For a big capacity contest, he goes more than a day without eating any solid food.

Talking about how he prepares for Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating contest, he said he is doing a hot dog practice once a week roughly, a full-on contest cooking up the hot dogs. 

He fasts for a day and a half before practice. 

After the practice is recovery mode, where it’s just high fiber, and even if he is not hungry, he will be eating lettuce and greens and just trying to get that food through him. 

He says he sometimes even eats more hot dogs in the practice than on the actual day.
