She has had ups and downs in her personal life and times have been very hard on her. She was married to her husband Martin Kirigoyen Kelly.

The times were very difficult and she used to write letters to her deceased husband. She also described how she and her children were dealing with the loss of their guardian.

 She also used those letters and published a book. She named the book as After You: Letters of Love, and Loss, to a Husband and Father. 

Those were very emotional times which she and her children had to cope with.
