Tragedy in their marriage

Everything was going well with their married life until tragedy hit in 2015

Mary went through a medical emergency, which led Mike to take a leave from work to take care of his wife.

His absence was felt by the team and caused the Atlanta Hawks to lose a match against the Boston Celtics.

The loss caused Mike to receive much criticism, after which he issued a statement explaining why he was compelled to take the leave.

In the statement, he said he needed to return to Atlanta from Boston to be there for his family.

He thanked the doctors and medical staff who made his wife recover.

He also thanked his coaching staff and the Hawks organization, who supported and encouraged him in his difficult time.

Unfortunately, their marriage couldn’t last long, and they divorced in 2018. The reason behind their separation hasn’t been revealed yet.

Who is he dating now?

Mike didn’t stay single for long after his divorce. He soon started dating Melissa Ramsay. However, it seems like they didn’t have a long relationship.

Mike made their relationship public by referring to her as his girlfriend in a radio interview with Bill Michaels in May 2018

Mike thanked the Bucks organization for providing him the opportunity, his daughter Libby, and his girlfriend Melissa, who was also present in the audience.

However, many fans speculated their split when Mike didn’t speak about Melissa when he received the Coach of the Year award at the 2019 NBA Awards

So, it is assumed that they broke up somewhere between 2019 and dated for about a year. He is currently single and is not dating any girlfriend.

He lost his brother and his coaching job

Mike lost one of his brothers to a car accident during the playoff series. However, he hid the news of his brother's demise until the end of the series.

Mike lost Game 4 on Monday to the Miami Heat and also dropped an overtime decision in Game 5 on Wednesday, which ended the series.

The news of his brother's demise was later revealed by his former assistant in Bucks and Hawks, Darvin Ham. Darvin said,

Coach Bud is going through a lot on a personal level. He just lost his bother, so my apologies, Bud, if I wasn’t supposed to let anybody know. He and I have been texting. I love those guys.

He was fired from the Milwaukee Bucks on May 4, 2023, after losing five matches in the first round of playoffs to the Miami Heat

Though some argue the loss could have also resulted due to the injury of Giannis Antetokounmpo, some agree with the decision to fire him.

In May 2023, it was revealed that the Phoenix Suns are eyeing Mike to become their next head coach.
