Michail Antonio

Michail Antonio is an English-born professional footballer who plays for Premier League Club West Ham United as a forward. 

He was born to Black-British parents with Jamaican roots. Michail signed his first professional contract at 18 with the non-league club Tooting & Mitcham United.

Michail always had in his mind to make history. His dream came true, becoming the all-time goal scorer of West Ham United by scoring two goals in a 4-1 victory over Leicester City on the 23rd of August, 2021. 

He broke the record of Paolo Di Canio. Since he was making history, he wanted to celebrate uniquely by grabbing a cardboard cut-out of himself and lifting it above and planting a kiss to himself. 

In an interview, he said the reference behind the celebration was meant to be from the film Save the Last Dance, which he realized he made a mistake naming the wrong movie and later clarified it on Twitter where he tweeted getting the film name wrong in an interview. It was from the film Dirty Dancing.

He married his long-term girlfriend

Michail is happily married to his wife, Debbie Whittle. The couple wedded in June of 2017 after being together for years. 

The couple was high together in their highs as well as low in their lows. It was a romantic country house wedding at Hoar Cross Hall Hotel in Staffordshire. 

Michail describes his wife to be the rock of his family. The couple is living a blissful married life with no signs of divorce. 

Blessed with four kids 

In their more than a decade of relationship, the couple is blessed with adorable kids, boys Miles and Mikey and a girl Myla Rose. 

The couple became the parents of their fourth child, a baby boy, in 2020. Michail is a complete family man.

Michail has an elder brother named Jacob Antonio, who is working as a property investor. He shares an incredibly close bond with his brother. 

According to Michail, his brother is the first person he seeks advice from. Reminiscing the past incident, Jacob recalled his young days when he thought of joining a gang, but his brother suggested against it. 

He said, joining one gang when you already know the members from another gang results in fighting with your friends at the end. 

Two months later, the same thing happened when one of his friends stabbed another friend. 

Jacob is married to his wife, with whom he shares kids. He was the best man at his brother Michail's wedding.

His dad sadly passed away following a long-term illness

Michail's dad sadly passed away following a long-term illness in 2020. He was in and out of the hospital for seven years. 

His parents were together for more than three decades. Michail is looking after his mother and taking care of her. 

She looked after him when he was young, and now he is working, it's his time to look after her. Michail confessed to giving half of his first paycheck to his mother, which he calls "Mummy Tax."

Urged points deduction rather than fine on Racism

Michail was 13 years old when he became the victim of racial abuse from the opponent while he was playing for non-league club Tooting. 

Many players have been fined for their racially abusive behavior, but Michail feels punishing the people themselves is never going to bring change, but if the team is punished, then it can have positive change. 

They will not be affected by paying a fine since the club will pay the fine, but if the point is deducted, then the club will be affected, and everybody is not going to repeat it. He further confessed to not being affected by Racism.
