Melanie Wright

Melanie Wright, full name Melanie Renee Schlanger, is the mother of American actors Cole Sprouse and Dylan Sprouse. 

She is also known by her nickname, “Mel.” She was born and raised in Queensland. She is an Australian freestyle swimmer.

Melanie began swimming at the age of 14. In the 2006 Pan pacific swimming championship, she first represented Australia. 

In the World Championship of 2007, she won gold for the first time as a member of the Australian freestyle relay team. 

In the 2008 Beijing and 2012 London Olympics, she won five Olympic medals, including two gold medals representing Australia. 

She broke the world record in 2007 and 2014 in the freestyle relay. She retired from sports in 2015 as she suffered from a rib stress fracture. 

In the meantime, she received entry into the highly esteemed medical program at Bond University. 

Now she is a doctor who graduated with a Bachelor of medical studies and a doctor of medicine.

Melanie was married to a TV producer, Matthew Sprouse, in 1990. They have two identical twin sons together, Cole and Dylan. 

After seven years of marriage, this couple got separated in 1997. The reason for their divorce is still unknown. 

After a few years, in September 2014, Melanie got married to Australian Olympic swimmer Chris Wright in Brisbane, Australia. 

Melanie was pregnant while she was studying medicine. She said that she would take her studies side by side. They have two children together.

In August 2020, through his Instagram post, Cole confirmed that he and Lili broke up. 

He said it was an incredible experience, and he feels lucky that he got a chance to fall in love, and he will always cherish that.
