Maurizio Pochettino

Maurizio Pochettino is the son of Agrentine professional football manager and former player Mauricio Pochettino. Mauricio is currently the head coach of Ligue 1 club Paris Saint-Germain.

He followed in his father's footsteps

Maurizio followed in his father's footsteps and became a footballer. He started his career by joining the academy of Southampton in 2013. At the time, his father was announced the first team manager of Southampton. 

He signed his first professional contract with Tottenham Hotspur in July 2019 after joining the club in 2015. 

He later signed a new contract with the club on 29th June 2020 despite his father's dismissal on 19th November 2019. 

He made his professional debut with Watford as a winger on 1st May 2021 after joining the club on a free transfer on 31st January 2021.

His parents Karina Pochettino and Mauricio Pochettino, first met at the nightclub in 1991 and quickly got along, ending up in marriage in 1994.

Mauricio is on the verge of getting sacked by PSG as his exit from the club has been the hot topic for months after the disappointing exit from the Champions League. 

Pochettino was appointed the head coach on the 2nd of January 2021, following the departure of Thomas Tuchel. 

Though he guided PSG to Ligue 1 victory, Pochettino has failed to impress the French club. 

The club was unable to win the Champions League, which the club most desired, despite having top players like Lionel Messi, Neymar, and Kylian Mbappe. 

With the rumors spreading like a fire, Pochettino, during the press conference the last month, had said there is still a year left for his contract to expire, so it’s not a question of desire but the question of the contract.

DailyMail reports Pochettino has further claimed that PSG and Manchester City had the same success because both teams won the titles and that the French club was impatience to become an elite club. 

According to Pochettino, PSG is desperate to win the Champions League. 

The goal is to win it, and it’s normal for trouble to arise, but they overcame them by winning Championship just as Manchester City won it in England. 

Pochettino says there is a lot of impatience in the club despite having won top coaches like Carlo Ancelotti, Laurent Blanc, and many other coaches and thinks they are going to find the right form of agreement so that everyone, the players, the technical staff and the management can all go in the same direction.

At the same time, News Rebeat reports that Pochettino, in an interview with ESport3, said he has another year on his contract, and there are so many rumors. 

He also claimed PSG has already kicked him out every week. And also said that the club is trying to reinvent itself and the president will explain his new projects shortly, but he is calm.

Pochettino guided the club to a 4-1 victory over Barcelona on the 16th of February, 2021, took charge of his first Champions League, and further guided to the 3-2 victory over Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter-final but unfortunately lost in both legs in the semi-finals against Manchester City.

According to the sources, Zinedine Zidane is likely to replace Pochettino in the coming days. However, it is yet to see until it’s confirmed.
