Travis was married to his first wife for nearly two decades before marrying her

Beougher is the second wife of Travis. Before marrying her, Travis was married to his first wife, Elizabeth ‘Lib’ Hatcher-Travis. 

Travis was 17 years old when he auditioned for a nightclub musical contest where he met then-33-year-old club owner Elizabeth’Lib’ Hatcher and became friends with her before taking it into a serious relationship. 

Lib, at the time, was married to her then-husband Frank, with whom she managed the club. 

She was later asked to choose between him and Travis, and she chose the latter and moved in with him to Nashville. 

Lib accompanied Travis throughout his musical journey, guiding him through and promoting his music. 

Travis, in an interview, credited music for bringing them together. Just being around each other, working with each other, it just grew from that, he said. 

Lib and Travis didn’t make their relationship public until the rumor of Travis being gay circulated. They got married in 1991. 

Their marriage started to take a rough patch after Beogher hopped into Travis’s life.

She was caught in a cheating scandal 

Beougher made a headline after she was caught in a cheating scandal with Travis. 

Beougher, at the time, was married to her then-husband, cosmetic dentist Dr. Ritchie Beougher of Willow Bend Dental Office, where she worked as a manager. 

Lib discovered that her husband was cheating on her through a spy camera that was installed on his tour bus. 

They were caught sleeping together, which eventually led to the end of their nearly two decades of marriage. Their divorce was finalized in 2011. 

Following their divorces with their exes, Travis and Beougher got engaged in 2013 and secretly got married on the 21st of March, 2015.

Beougher stood by Travis’s side as a rock through his lows. 

Two years before they got married, Travis had a near-death experience after he suffered a massive stroke and underwent surgery.

During an interview with Cornerstone Television, they went back to the memory lane, recalling the difficult phase of their life. 

According to Beougher, they were touring at the time and were set to leave the following Tuesday for Canada when Travis said he was not feeling good and it was feeling hard to breathe. 

After they went to the hospital, the doctor provided him with antibiotics for walking pneumonia, but he was still facing difficulty breathing. 

When they went back to the hospital, he had double pneumonia. They didn’t know it was not the lungs but the heart, she said. 

It was not until they went to the third hospital, which was the heart hospital, that they discovered that they had to put him on ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) or they were going to lose him. 

After 72 hours, they discovered that he had a stroke when he flatlined. Then, at the fourth hospital, he collapsed, and several other complications followed.

Even after the therapy and rehab, he suffered from aphasia and had to use a cane for more than a year.

During all those times, Beougher became his strength and took care of him. 

Beougher said that it was a hallelujah moment for them when Travis was able to walk out of the hospital because people said he would be bedridden for the rest of his life. 

Still, they didn’t believe that because they had made it through so many impossible, miraculous moments in those last six months.

Mother of two 

Beougher is the mother of her two kids, a son named Raleigh and a daughter named Cavanaugh, whom she shares with her then-husband, Ritchie.
