Margot married her high school sweetheart, Steve Kerr. They first met in 1985 while attending the University of Arizona.

Her sister survived a horrible accident

Margot was raised by a single mom Karen Brennan, a writer, and a professor, alongside her three siblings Rachel, Chris, and Geoff Brennan. 

In 1995, the family went through a tragedy when her 24-year-old sister Rachel met a horrible motorcycle accident leaving severe brain damage causing memory loss. 

Her mother, Karen, sat beside her during her four months of coma, making her remember everything repeatedly to get her memory back. 

She has diagnosed with retrograde amnesia, a condition when someone may recall things from the past but not the things that occurred recently. 

She was brought back home after six months in hospital. 

For several years, her mom became her strength and tried to balance her life by taking care of her.
