How did she meet her future husband?
Aoki married Pele in July 2016 in a small ceremony in Guaruja after dating for six years.
They had planned their marriage a couple of years before 2016 but had to postpone following Pele's health condition.
They first met in the mid-1980s at a New York party, but it was only after they reunited in 2008 they started dating.
Pele, in an interview in 2012, said he met Aoki in 2008 in an elevator and discovered they were living in the same apartment block.
At the time, Aoki was in the middle of divorcing her then-spouse. As they were destined to be together, they met two years later in the same elevator.
Pele said he was renovating the apartment, and Aoki, who was already divorced at the time, invited him to see a home renovation she had done.
She was the third wife of Pele
Prior to marrying her, Pele was married twice. He was married to his first girlfriend, Rosemeri Dos Reis Cholbi.
Pele, in the Netflix documentary Pele, said that Cholbi was his first serious relationship with whom he wanted to start a family with, and when he thought it was time for him to settle down, he started a tight bond with the family and got married in 1966.
They were together for 16 years before his infidelity took a toll on his married life. They got divorced in 1982.
He then married for the second time to a psychologist and gospel singer Assiria Lemos Seixas in 1994. They divorced after 14 years of marriage.
Does she share any kids with Pele?
Aoki does not share any kids with Pele. But Pele was the father of seven.
He shared three kids, two daughters, Kelly Cristina Nascimento and Jennifer, and a son, Edinho, with his first ex-wife Rosemeri Dos Reis Cholbi.
He shared twins, Joshua Nascimento and Celeste Nascimento, with his second ex-wife.
The twins were born via fertility treatments. His other two kids were born outside his marriage.
He had a daughter Sandra Regina Machado with housemaid Anizia Machado and a fifth daughter Flavia with a journalist Lenita Kurtz.
Pele admitted to having several affairs while still married to his first wife, some of which resulted in children.
Both Sandra and Flavia were born while he was still married to Cholbi. Sandra was born in 1963, and Flavia was born in 1968.
For years, Pele denied accepting Sandra as his child and denied submitting a DNA test. It was in 1991 after Sandra dragged him to the court.
Two years later, the court declared Sandra to be his daughter based on the DNA.
She was with her husband until his last moment
Her husband sadly passed away on the 29th of December, 2022, at the age of 82, after a long battle with Cancer.
Aoki was with him throughout his hard times.
Pele even took his Instagram back in February last year to share that his wife has been his favorite hairdresser since the beginning of the pandemic. He wrote,
"They are saying out there that I'm not well. Don't you think I am handsome?"
In another post with the picture alongside his wife and their dog, he wrote,
"The peace of being next to my dear wife, Marcia, and our inseparable companion, Cocoa. Treatment is hard, but feeling their love is the best medicine. Home sweet home."
How her husband got his nickname Pele?
Her husband was born Edson Arantes do Nascimento.
According to the legend, he was born in a small town in Brazil called Three Hearts, and the light came around the same time he was born, so his father named him after Thomas Edison.
He said he was proud to be named after an engineer of lights. His father, who was also a soccer player, had a teammate who was a goalkeeper.
His name was "Bile," and whenever his father used to take him to Vasco training sessions, he would shout "Good One Bile" or Great Save, Bile.
When he grew up, he would tell he wanted to be a goalie like "Pile," and it became "Pele" after he moved to Bauru because of his thick Minas Gerais Accent.
"In Portuguese, when you kick with your feet, it is pronounced Pe. Maybe, I made mistakes or didn't kick out, and they started calling out Pele", he said.
But when he was at home, he was called by his other nickname, Dico.
Pele said he initially didn't like the name Pele because he thought it sounded horrible and even punched a classmate because of it.
But he later got used to it. He expressed his gratitude to the goalie Bile and a classmate's little joke that he became Pele which is well-known all over the world.
