Mar Garcia Tuero

Mar Garcia Tuero is famous for being a spouse of an Asturias-born football manager and a former player, Marcelino Garcia Toral. 

He is the current manager of Athletic Bilbao. A former midfielder represented Sporting Gijon, Racing Santander, Levante, and Elche as well as Spain at U18, U19, U20, and U21 levels.

Survived an accident along with her family

Mar Garcia, along with her family, traveled from Valencia to Asturias for a Christmas celebration back in 2017 when they met with an accident. 

On their way, their car ran over a 90 kilo wild boar leaving the car to overturn. She, along with her then 81-year-old mother-in-law, was seriously injured. 

Her ribs were cracked while her mother-in-law suffered several traumas and was rushed to a nearby hospital. On the other hand, Marcelino had to wear a neck brace.

Her beautiful marriage to Marcelino gave birth to their only son Sergio Garcia. Sergio, now 29 years old, is working under his father as an assistant fitness coach.

A ruthless sacking of her husband despite the positive outcome

Her husband Marcelino was hired by Valencia in May 2017. In his two seasons at the club, he led the club to finish back-to-back to fourth place in La Liga. 

Furthermore, he also led the team to lift the Copa del Rey cup beating Barcelona to 2-1. Despite the positive results, he still got sacked from his post, something that was not fair and was shocking. 

Many of the ex-players came out in support of him, criticizing the one who sacked him. According to Marcelino, the reason they gave behind sacking him was that he was challenging the owner, which he never did. 

He confessed to being hurt by their decision, but at the same time, he knew that life has to go on as time heals all wounds. He also stated he would not be greeting Valencia president Anil Murthy if he ever met him in the streets.

Her post once led a controversy

At the end of the 2015-16 season, her husband, then Villarreal coach, were beaten 2-0 by Sporting that saved them from relegation.

Soon after, on her Facebook account, she wrote, 

”I leave Asturias with the job done!!! We leave you in the first division”. 

Until she deleted her post, her post had already gone viral, which led to controversy. 

Before that, her spouse had publicly announced his wishes to see his former club Sporting Gijon not go down but to continue in the first division. 

Her statement further fueled the fire that Villarreal helped Sporting Gijon to save themselves.
