Madelyn Cline

Madelyn Cline is an American-born actress and model best recognized for her role as Sarah Cameron on the popular Netflix drama series Outer Banks and as Whiskey in the Oscar-nominated film Glass Onion.

Her career journey

Cline was born to her parents, Mark Cline, an engineer who works with the Charleston Wire system, and Pam, a real estate agent in Goose, Greek, South Carolina. 

When Cline was about 11 or 12 years old, she got scouted by a model. 

She worked on several television commercials like T-mobile, Next Clothing, and Sunny D. Her parents went to New York for the Summer so that she could work. 

From the money she made from commercials, she started to save money so that she could pay for her college by herself. 

She said by doing that, she felt like she was helping her parents.

Since she was quite young, Cline didn't know if she was going to pursue acting, but then she realized how she was going to be a good parent to her kids in the future if she hadn't learned, hadn't lived life, and if she hasn't seen the world. 

So, she decided to go for the audition. She auditioned for the Governor's School, which is the boarding school for arts. 

She prepared "Defying Gravity" from the album Wicked. Though she knew she couldn't sing, she thought she could do it seeing it on Glee. 

Then she was asked to prepare a comedic and dramatic monologue, and although she got done with the first one, she got rejected with the second one. 

In 2018, she landed a role as Sarah Elizabeth Cameron in Netflix's mystery drama series Outer Banks, the role that made her an overnight sensation with the popularity of the series. 

Then, in 2021, she joined the cast of Rian Johnson's Murder mystery "Glass Onion." 

When she joined the cast of Glass Onion, she said she was scared and elated at the same time. 

She became starstruck after seeing Daniel Craig

During the conversation with Harper Bazaar UK, she recalled a meeting she had with Rian and Edward before they started filming and how she became starstruck upon seeing Daniel Craig. 

She said she was not expecting him to show up and hadn't mentally prepared for herself. 

He was so nice, he is a sweetheart. But she was really starstruck and had to run away, she said.

Besides that, she also shared what makes her happy. She said she is simple and loves a good dinner party and a glass of wine. 

Doing whatever she wants makes her happy.

She was dating Outer Banks co-star Chase Stokes

The on-screen couple soon became a real-life couple though they later broke up. 

The ex-couple first met in 2019, weeks prior to filming the debut season of Outer Banks. 

Though the show aired on Netflix in April 2020, the rumors of them dating one another were already making the highlights. 

They confirmed going public with their relationship in June. 

As per Cline, the show coming out was already a pretty big life change, so they were just wanting to give one another some time and enjoy it while it's new and fresh and just keep to themselves.

However, the couple broke up after dating for over a year. They announced their split in November 2021. 

Chase Stokes, during an interview with Entertainment Weekly, while opening up about working with Cline following their break-up, said they had made a promise even before they started dating that no matter what, their work was going to be their first priority. 

And honor their work always, no matter what comes up with their personal lives.

Cline during the conversation with Hoda Kotb of TODAY, when asked about what she learned through the experience of a break-up, she said she learned how much she values her privacy and anonymity and how much it means to her, and how much keeping things to herself means to her.
