Luis Garcia Plaza is a Spanish-born professional football manager and a former central defender. He is the current manager of RCD Mallorca.

Have been married for more than two decades

Luis has been married to his beautiful wife, Maribel, for more than two decades. The couple gave birth to their two beloved children, a son, and a daughter, from their union.

How many times has he been sacked during his managerial career so far?

His playing career came to a full stop quite early because of his injury. He was just 27 when he had to retire from his playing career after representing Atletico Madrid B, Yeclano, Rayo Vallecano B, Talavera, and Benidorm. His manager career started with UD Altea in 2001. 

After two seasons with the club, he took over Villarreal CF, where he spent another two seasons before returning to the CF’s reserves after a brief spell at Altea. After having led the reserves to the Tercera Division, he joined Segunda Divison Elche CF but was sacked from the post after one season. 

He spent a season with his former club Benidorm before taking over Levante UD and leading the team to La Liga in his second season. He signed a three-year contract with La Liga side Getafe but was sacked three months before the end of the contract after struggling to collect just four draws out of 12 games. 

He spent his next two seasons with Baniyas Club, the club that competes in the UAE pro-league, and one and a half seasons with Chinese club Beijing Renhe. He was sacked from his post-Villarreal just after a month. 

He returned to Beijing Renhe but soon left the club after the club’s relegation and joined Saudi Arabian club Al-Shabab which was ninth in Saudi Professional League. 

He was signed by RCD Mallorca in the second division on the 6th of August, 2020.

He needed a translator for a year and a half to communicate with the players

According to Luis Garcia, he does not close any door and is open to everyone. He was at the helm of the Chinese club Beijing Renhe for a year and a half. 

In his one and half year period, he led the team to first division promotion, but at the same time, he had a difficult time communicating with the players since he did not understand the language. 

There was a need for a translator every time to communicate with the players. He neither knew the players nor knew their names. 

Because of the difficulty of memorizing their name, he used to call them by their numbers. There are many hilarious memories of Luis with the club. 

There was a moment when he had to talk to one of the footballers after the game, and once he was talking a minute later, the player confessed that he was not the one.

Taking a risk at games has been his philosophy

Luis has always been consistent with his philosophy. 

His philosophy is to take a risk at games no matter what because he believes the general calculation at the end is always expensive though they may not always win.
