They had two wedding
Lorie and Paul had two weddings.
Paul, in his Instagram, shared that they eloped in 2009 in Vancouver and had a proper wedding on the 25th of June in 2011 in front of friends and family in Palm Springs, California.
They welcomed their son Kingston in April 2016 via surrogacy.
How did they find a surrogate?
Paul, in an interview, said giving birth to their son was one of their greatest God wink moments, explaining that he and Lorie had a bumpy road trying to get pregnant.
After spending a couple of years, they were told to have a surrogate. He said that there are strict rules about surrogacy.
As per the rules, one has to volunteer, and it's not an easy thing to find a stranger who is willing to volunteer ten months of their life to carry a baby.
So they signed up for the service called Surrogate Finder, but they were heartbroken and gave up all their hopes when it was not happening as they had reached out to 15 women.
They moved back to Los Angeles after that.
He recalled Lorie saying to him one day that she would check email for the Sunny Day Foundation, the foundation they had started while they were in Toronto and had sort of put on hold when they moved to Los Angeles.
There was an email from a woman named Erin, who had read their profiles on the surrogate finder website months before.
Lorie had mentioned the foundation on the website, so a woman named Erin emailed the foundation since they had no contacts with them.
She had said in the email that if they were still interested, she and her husband would love to talk about carrying their baby.
Her husband aspired to become a builder before ending up being an actor
Her husband, during a podcast, shared he wanted to be a builder his whole life. He recalled even at the age of five, he was asking for a drill for Christmas.
He said his father and grandfather had a drill and wanted a drill, too, so he got one.
Throughout his adolescence and throughout high school, he was planning to build houses.
He just loved the idea of building houses, and he didn’t consider any other profession.
After graduating from high school, he spent almost four years working with a framing crew building houses in West Vancouver.
He said he loved the work, but he hated working in the rain. He came to the state where he felt like he didn’t love anymore.
His friend at the time was doing background work on one of Will Smith’s movies and said to him that he was making 15 bucks an hour, which was sort of a dollar more an hour than he was making.
He thought to get a background job, and he needed an acting class, so he joined the acting class.
He just fell in love with it and wanted to try to do something with it, so he applied for the theater school. He graduated from theater school after two years.
He went back to carpentry, and four months later, he got a call from his friend saying that somebody had seen his Final performance at college and his agent liked him and asked him to call if he wanted to have an agent.
So he called the agent, auditioned for him, and got signed up.
The role he put on tape for an audition, the agent sent it to the casting, and he got the job right away, and the rest is history.
