She didn't start a relationship until Crawford agreed to have therapy

Hintelman and Crawford first met while working on The BodyGuard. 

But, she was not ready to start a relationship with Crawford because Crawford, at the time, was having a hard time and needed therapy. 

She put a condition only to start a relationship if Crawford agreed to take therapy. 

They got married after Crawford stopped working with Houston but on the understanding that they would leave their door open if Houston showed up. 

While appearing on Red Table Talk, Hintelman said Crawford had committed to her that she was going to focus on their life. 

When Houston was alive, people would call Crawford and give updates about Houston, which would frustrate Hintelman, but at the same time, they also knew how important they were to each other. 

She also felt for Whitney and felt for her troubles and her struggles because it was because of Whitney she and Crawford met, she said. 

Crawford, in an interview, credited Hintelman for being the rock of Gibraltar. 

Hintelman provided her shelter and a place to hide when she wanted to be alone and let her know that she loved and cared about her. 

It was a dark time for her, but she got out of her way and let her crawl until she climbed back up, she said.

Together, they adopted twins

Hintelman and Crawford are the parents of their twins whom they adopted. Together with their twins, they reside in New Jersey.

Her spouse opened up about her romance with Whitney Houston

For years, there had been speculation about the romance rumor between Crawford and Houston, which they had denied during a Time Magazine interview in 1987, but Crawford finally opened up about their relationship in her memoirs A Song For You: My Life With Whitney Houston claiming that their relationship included being physically intimate.

Crawford, while appearing on Red Table Talk to talk about her memoir back in 2019, talked about her relationship with Houston and why she decided to tell her story in regards to her relationship with Houston. 

She said Jada Pinkett Smith that she had found comfort in silence before she began to feel her silence shake, and what she heard and read wasn't accurate. 

She felt she needed to stand up for Houston's legacy after her daughter Bobbi Kristina passed away in 2015. 

Crawford and Houston first met at the community development center when they were summer counselors. Both were teens. 

Crawford was 19, and Houston was 16, soon to turn 17. They bonded well and became good friends. 

One day after camp, they were just talking when they felt connected at one point and ended up kissing each other. It was their first kiss. 

“Our friendship was intimate on all levels. The situation was out of control. There was no shame", she shared. 

According to Crawford, they were open to the physical aspect of their friendship, but Houston's mother was not fond of their closeness. 

She would get bothered if Houston would listen to her, but Houston always listened to her.

Crawford recalled Houston handing her a bible and saying they could no longer be physically intimate. 

She said to her that being physical would make their journey much harder if people discovered it. 

Houston's mom had also told her that it was not natural for two women to be as close as they were.

Though they physically ended their relationship, they stayed connected emotionally. 

Crawford was the maid of honor at Houston's marriage to Bobby Brown.
