Lily Rudiger

Lily Rudiger is the beloved mother of Real Madrid and the German national team centre-back, Antonio Rudiger. Lily is from Sierra Leone. 

Married life 

Lily is married to her husband, Matthias. Her husband is German, but their whole family is from Africa. 

They were forced to flee from Sierra Leone in 1991 because of the civil war and had to sacrifice a lot after that. 

Though they were not wealthy, they taught their six children, four daughters, and two sons, words of wisdom and dignity.

Antonio has grown in that way and still today he has the same fighting spirit. 

He says giving up is not in his DNA, not in his mind, that has made him the person he is today, and that is the reason his mom calls him a soldier. 

Still, today it’s hard for him to accept defeat. He said,

After retirement, Antonio will dedicate himself to business

Antonio, in an interview, when asked about life after football, said he could dedicate himself to his business and himself. 

He hopes for a long and successful career, after which he doesn’t think he will stay in the football business.

He wishes to be back to his childhood days and get back to the things that he couldn’t do. 

He wants to go to Disneyland because he never went as a child since his parents could not afford it. 

One day he will take his parents and his kids to Disneyland, he said.

Antonio loves playing mind games with opponents

One of the tricks Antonio applies while playing is that he plays mind games with his opponents, and he loves doing it. 

In an interview with Sport 1, he admitted to playing mind games with his opponents and using trash talk, which according to him, is a must for him. 

He said it happened to him at the beginning of his career at Stuttgart when he was handed several red cards, and his parents wanted him to send him to talk to someone to get out of it, but he is someone who doesn’t like to talk to strangers about his feelings, he added. 

Antonio further went on to say that he was grown up a lot with time because of age and also because of his children and has more sense of responsibility. 

He loves and needs to play mind games with his opponents, also using trash talk. 

It’s fun and part of the game where he analyzes his opponents and thinks about how they will react if he provokes them a little. 

It’s not that he chooses them before the match, but it happens spontaneously. He says football is entertainment, and he does it differently.
