Lilla Frederick

Lilla Frederick is a former professional Volleyball player but mostly known as the wife of a Canadian basketball coach and former player, Steve Nash. 

Separated from his wife after their son's birth 

Steve Nash was first married to filmmaker Alejandra Amarilla. 

They happened to meet each other in Manhattan, where he played for the Dallas Mavericks in 2001. 

Since then, they remained in touch and eventually started dating. 

Being madly in love, the couple had two children before marriage. She gave birth to twin beautiful daughters whom they named Lola Nash and Bella Nash. 

After a year of being parents, they decided to take another big step in their life. 

In June 2005, the couple lavishly shared wedding vows. It was a fairy tale wedding that anyone could ever dream of.  

Then right after their marriage, he flew back to Arizona for the Phoenix suns. 

Everything was fine between them, and they even declared their third pregnancy to the public. 

Nobody ever thought, even in their dreams, that the couple will announce their separation right after their son's birth.  

Reportedly she was linked with one of his teammates, and speculations were there that Little son was not his. 

Settlement battle was ugly 

The couple was living separately even before their son's birth. 

The custody battle worsened as she did not follow the Arizona court's verdict, which denied giving financial support to children, comparing her income with her husband, who was earning $10,000,000 per season. 

In 2012 she again filed for custody, wanting to move to LA with kids and child's support, in the California Courts when he moved to LA Lakers. 

He then strongly responded to it, saying that it is not a good place to raise the kids in an LA environment.

He also claimed that she is also going to spoil his kids with all the expensive stuff. 

At last, he refused to give any money to his ex-wife in her hand, and he paid all the medical expenses, educational, extracurricular activities, and even paid a huge amount to his nanny. 

However, the news came in 2016 that both moved on in their life and held no grudges against each other.

Married for the second time 

Lilla was on vacation with him when he asked her to be his wife, and she immediately said yes. 

Their wedding took place in Manhattan Beach, California, and all his family, friends, and NBA players were there to attend their big day. 

The couple is very much happy, and Steve retired as a player in 2015.

Children 

She had two kids whose names are Luca and Ruby Jean Nash. Her son is three years old, and the little girl just turned one year old. 

She was born on the 27th of June 2019. Other than this, Steve has three children from a previous marriage. 

Recalling Steve’s old days of school, basketball, parents, and many more

Steve was captured sharing about his good old days. The coach started by talking about his parents and that they are from the UK. His mom is Welsh, however, raised in London. 

Steve’s dad, a soccer player, also grew up in London. Steve was just 11 months old while shifting to Canada for the first time. 

Steve then recalled that his father didn’t have any single idea about basketball games, so Steve being his son was raised playing soccer and hockey. 

He was also actively involved in playing baseball, box, lacrosse, chess in elementary school. 

When the coach reached eighth grade in a new school, he spotted that everyone there was playing basketball every day. 

He shared at that very moment the first Air Jordans was published, Mike, on the other side, was doing commercials with Spike Lee claiming it to be the super cool time to be engaged in the game. 

Steve was 13 years old, and his school played basketball. Nevertheless, he played basketball while in eighth grade, still involved in hockey and soccer. 

Steve then said that after a year only, he fell so much in love with basketball that he stopped all other games. 

Other than that, he also confronted that they didn’t have ESPN claiming ESPN to be young at that time. But, they did receive college basketball on ABC or CBS. 

He also said they got one or two NBA games per week. Lastly, Steve shared that he only got a scholarship offer to play Division I basketball by Santa Clara. 

Interesting things about Steve 

Besides the game, Steve has founded the Steve Nash Foundation and Jim Jennings Memorial Endowment Fund, whose main objective and focus is on the needs of underserved kids in Arizona, Paraguay, and British Columbia. 

Other than that, Steve got inspired by numerous people in his life, which involved Terry Fox, his childhood hero. 

He further shared that while he was six years old, living in Canada and seeing him (Terry) visiting across the country to collect money for cancer research is the proud and memorable moment of Steve to date. 

Moreover, Steve also remembered when they found Terry couldn’t continue. Those things that happened in the past are still stuck with Steve now.
