LaVan Davis

LaVan Davis is an American actor famous for his role as Curtis Payne on Tyler Perry's Tv Show House of Payne and The Paynes.

His career so far 

LaVan started his career with stage plays. He landed his first role in 2004 as Leroy in the film Mindbenders. 

The following year he played the role of the preacher as a guest appearance in two episodes of "Everybody Hates Chris." 

He was featured in Tyler Perry's "Madea Goes to Jail" as Leo the same year. 

He then bagged another role in two of his feature films Daddy's Little Girls and Tyler Perry's Meet the Browns, in 2007 and 2008. 

He rose to prominence after appearing in Perry's House of Payne as one of the leading roles, Curtis Payne. The sitcom ran from 2007 until 2012.

In January 2018, The Paynes, a spin-off of the sitcom House Of Payne, premiered on the Oprah Winfrey Network. 

Though the season was not renewed for a second season, the revival of the series for the ninth season premiered in 2020 on Bet, followed by the tenth season in May 2021, the 11th season in March 2022, and the 12th season in February 2023.

He is often mistaken as the husband of actress Cassi Davis not only because they played the role of husband and wife in Tyler Perry's "House Of Payne" but also because they share the same last name in real life, but it's not true that they are married. 

Both LaVan and Cassi appeared in an interview to clear the air. 

When asked to confirm they are neither married nor related in real life, Cassi said No while LaVan humorously added, "Maybe." 

Cassi, at the time, said she had a wonderful sweetheart whom she later married.

LaVan and Cassi also shared that the sitcom is something they are proud of doing, which people could watch forever and can revisit and say there's good stuff, good performances, and they are saying something. 

LaVan said he feels proud when families come together for dinner and tells them they are going to watch House of Payne. 

Cassi then said the first ten episodes were just an experiment hoping to get picked up, but it soon picked up and went on and on.

LaVan on working with Tyler Perry

LaVan had the opportunity to work with one of the best filmmakers in Hollywood, Tyler Perry before he got into TV productions. 

LaVan said when he went, Perry was releasing his first movie.

He went right at the time when he was starting to branch out and start taking wings, and he feels glad to be part of that. 

LaVan said one needs to grow the tree before decorating a tree when asked if Tyler is a stickler. One needs to respect the lines, he said. 

Once you learn your character, it's easier to take it in because you know where it is going, and then you are allowed to live in. 

He added that the best thing about working with Tyler is that you are allowed to live in it.

Relationship status

In an interview back in 2018, LaVan said he is single but has been in relationships before. 

He said he has to be friends with his woman prioritizing friendship as a key in a relationship. 

According to him, he hasn't had a lot of relationships, but the ones he had had were substantial to him, and hopefully, they have learned from each other that they were friends. 

He maintains a very private life outside his acting career, so his current relationship status is unknown.
