He is best known for his portrayals as O-Dog in Menace II Society and as Councilman Tate in Power. 

His other major hits include Love Jones (1997), Dead president (1995), The Postman (1997), Waist Deep (2006), and television series like Rescue Me (2007-2011), House of lies (2013), and Game of Silence (2016). 

He is currently drawing eyeballs globally for his recurring roles as corrupt Councilman Tate in hiatus series Power Book II: Ghost.

The actor was born on September 8, 1975, in Chicago, Illinois, United States. He is Virgo by zodiac sign. Tate was born as the youngest child to Peggy and Larry Tate. 

He has two elder brothers, Larron Tate and Lahmard Tate, who are also in the entertainment industry.

Married Life

Tate is a happily married man. He is married to former dancer Tomasina Parrott. 

Tate dated Parrott for nearly six long years before committing for life as a life partner. The couple will celebrate their 14th marriage anniversary as of 2020.

The father of four remembers his hilarious first meeting with Parrott as the best thing that happened to him. 

Tomasina Parrott was at the party as a friend of a girl who was there for Jamie Foxx. And Tate was convinced by Foxx to accompany Parrott. 

With his charming looks and long hair, Tate started the conversation with, 

“ Do you know how to braid?”
