Kristina Kovac

Kristina Kovac is the beautiful wife of Croatian professional football manager and former player Niko Kovac who is currently the manager of Ligue 1 club Monaco. 

Niko was born in Berlin-Wedding to his parents Mate and Ivka, Croatian immigrants from SFR Yugoslavia.

He had a stunning playing career. With 83 appearances, he scored 14 goals for Croatia and captained Croatia national team at the 2006 World Cup and Euro 2008.

Married to her primary school sweetheart

Kristina met her future–husband Niko while they were studying at primary school. The couple walked down the aisle in the year 1999 in Berlin.

After retiring from an incredible football career, Kovac took over the second squad of FC Red Bull Salzburg and progressed to the first squad as an assistant coach after his final match, where he led the team to 1-1 against SV Seekirchen. 

He went on to manage Croatia under 21 and senior, Eintracht Frankfurt and Bayern Munich before landing in Monaco. 

While at Eintracht, he saved the club from relegation, winning the relegation playoff match.

Under his management, the team progressed to finishing 11th and 8th positions in his two full seasons. 

The club reached the 2017 DFB-Pokal Final but lost against Borussia Dortmund. For the second time in a row, the club reached the 2018 DFB-Pokal Final, where the club was able to lift their first trophy in 20 years after the victory over Bayern Munich. 

After his successful season at Eintracht, he managed Bayern Munich, where he successfully led the team to Bundesliga and won the domestic double in 2019, making him the first person to win a league and cup double both as in the pitch and from the sideline as a manager.

Since his arrival in Monaco, the club managed to beat Paris Saint-Germain twice, which was the first time for Monaco since 2016.
