After having made 86 appearances for Olympiacos, he moved to Liverpool in 2020, signing a long-term contract.
His early start hit hurdles
His early start at Liverpool hit hurdles that came by one after another. At first, he was tested positive for Coronavirus, which forced him to isolate before the opening weekend of the season.
Then he suffered thigh and knee injuries that limited him to only four appearances. But the difficult start did not affect him that much because of his never-giving-up attitude.
He described himself as a positive guy who keeps on going forward. Although he had a rough start, he was able to grab the attention and prove himself after his impressive pre-season.
Recently he stood out as one of the key players in a 2-0 victory over Burnley in their premier league clash.
Diogo Jota and Sadio Mane were the goal scorers, but it was Tsimikas who paved the way for Jota with an appealing cross.
It was his sibling who first pushed him to Liverpool
Tsimikas has a brother Stergios who is two years older than him and a fan of Liverpool. It was his brother who first pushed him to sign for Liverpool.
Talking about his brother’s reaction after signing for Liverpool, he said that his brother for a while did not believe he was at Liverpool. Tsimikas also revealed being a Liverpool fan while growing up.
His dad made an early move sending him and his brother to Panserraikos
Tsimikas and his brother started their youth career with their hometown club Neapoli Thessaloniki before their dad sent them to Panserraikos when Tsimokas was 15 due to a lack of trust in their manager.
At the time, Panserraikos had only U20s, but his father had the trust of Panserraikos manager Sakis Anastasiadis who was also a friend of his father.
Though Tsimikas was only fifteen at the time and only the U20 team could feature in the team’s academy, he was able to impress the U20 coach Sakis Anastasiadis.
At the age of 15, he was playing with his senior players. His tenacity, toughness, and passion influenced Anastasiadis to take a risk that was worth taking.
In his second year in U20, the club won the championship and later was promoted to the senior team.
Tsimikas is grateful to his family, who has been supporting him throughout his football journey. They have moved to Liverpool with him.
As a part of the family, he has two more members, his two dogs Maui and Fuerte, whom he treats like his children.
