Keith Melvin Moses is a 19-year-old suspect in a series of shootings.
He was arrested after allegedly shooting five people in Orange County out of which three are dead and two are in critical condition.
When did the gun violence take place?
The gun violence took place on the 22nd of February, 2023 Wednesday in Orange County’s Pine Hills neighborhood.
Moses is formally charged with murder on a Thursday morning.
According to the Orange County Sheriff, John Mina, the incident took place around 11’o clock in the morning in Hialeah Street.
And the 20-year-old woman whom he shot was his acquaintance.
After the incident happened, two of the Spectrum 13 journalists went to the spot to cover the homicide. Moses upon seeing them opened fire on them too.
When asked if he was targeting the news crew, Sheriff told the vehicle doesn’t really look like a news crew vehicle, but the photographer was there so it’s possible that he might have mistaken them for law enforcement.
Moses then ran into a random house nearby in Hialeah on Harrington street and shot a nine-year-old girl and her mother.
Sheriff told they started getting multiple calls around four or five in the afternoon and when they reached the spot, they got a full idea of how tragic it was.
The shooting killed a 20-year-old woman, the Spectrum 13 journalist, and a nine-year-old girl while the other Spectrum 13 photographer and a nine-year-old's mother are critically injured and are fighting for their life.
They are transferred to nearby hospitals. Moses was detained and arrested near that area. He was in the exact same clothes from the morning.
Out of five shootings, four of them were random
According to the Sheriff, four of the five shootings were random.
Besides a 20-year-old woman whom he shot at the beginning, he had no connections with any of the four.
It is yet to know why he chose to shoot those two photographers, and why he chose to enter that home.
According to the Fox 35 Orlando news reporter, several people living in the Pine Hills neighborhood wish for a greater presence of law enforcement officers in the neighborhood on a regular basis and hopes their community leaders show up in person after the tragedy just to talk things through.
The reason behind the crime
Moses is in the custody and investigations are going on to find out what led him to commit the crime.
When Moses was arrested, he had a smirk on his face that shows he has no guilt.
He is formally charged with murder on Thursday morning and additional charges are expected for the shooting of other four people as stated by Sheriff.
He also told that Moses is not uttering a word at the time and they are trying to get the detail of the murder and hopefully they will get to know what his motives were.
He has a long criminal history
This is not the first time he committed a crime but he has committed a series of crimes before. He has a long criminal history.
According to the Sheriff, he has a history of gun charges, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, burglary weapon, and grand theft charges.
Who are his parents?
The detail about his parents and his family background is yet to know. Also, it is not known if he has a girlfriend.
