Kathy Maher

Kathy Maher is well known for being the sister of American stand-up comedian Bill Maher. Kathy is an executive director at Barnum Museum. 

She has been working at Barnum Museum since 1998 and became executive director in 2005. 

Kathy holds governor’s appointments to the Connecticut State Historic Preservation Council, the State Library and Museum of Connecticut History and Heritage, and the Connecticut Civil War Commemoration Commission.

Bill said in an interview with The Late Show with Stephen Colbert that you can look at so many videos of shooting unarmed black people. 

He talked about Rodney King's case in 1991 or 1992 and how everybody thought cops could not get away with it. 

He added that there is something wrong going on here that needs to be addressed, and violence is wrong on both sides. 

He said that he’s been talking about police culture in this country for a long time. 

He added we all need police, and we respect them, but there is something wrong with the police culture. 

He doesn’t think most policemen are bad people at all, but there is that thin blue-line mentality where they protect their own, and Bill thinks that has to be changed. 

He said that police are like the priesthood. They attract the wrong kind of people sometimes. 

Bill Maher: Nobody stands for racism

Bill shared with Larry King that if we could keep two thoughts in our heads at the same time, no one forgives racism. 

It’s nice we’ve reached a place in America where this is not even debatable, and nobody stands up for racism. 

He said that he’s the one who has been saying America is stupid and that people get mad at him, but he can prove it chapter and verse: 60% of people think Noah’s Ark story is true. 

He meant that racism is fused with a lot of different things. Some of it is just lizard-brain nonsense. 

He added You don’t like me, I hate you, and some of it has to do with economics and class and the way rich people are able to use things like race to divide poor people. 

Bill on Consumption of Marijuana

Bill said in an interview that when marijuana is used for medical purposes, talk to anybody who uses it for medical reasons, they will tell you it very often provides a solace that nothing else they tried does. 

Still, we don’t have to use that excuse anymore, and we don’t have to have the fig-leaf of whatever the issues they have in their health, but instead, we want to have it be a good explanation, according to Bill.
