Karen Bergen was first and only wife of American singer and songwriter Bobby Vee.

She was a member of the Central Minnesota Community and an activist.

Married life

She was married to Bobby Vee. The couple met for the first time in a dance party near her hometown, and that was in 1960. Her husband was already a rock star at that time.

They got engaged on 1 July 1963. The couple tied a knot on 28 December 1963 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Detroit Lakes. They were a lovely couple. 

They had spent 51 years of long married life together. They had four children together.

Her Husband

Robert Thomas Velline, best known as Bobby Vee, was a famous musician. He was best known for his pop music in the 60s. 

He was born on 30 April 1943 in Fargo, North Dakota, United States. His parents were Sydney Ronald Velline and Saima Cecelia Tapanila.

He was a teen idol. He was only 15 years old when he first joined a band of his brother Bill and his friends. He also appeared in several films.

She had three sons and a daughter. Her first son born on 3 January 1965. The couple named him Jeffrey Robert Velline.

Her second son Thomas Paul Velline was born on 25 October 1966. The couple welcomed their third son Robert Bryon Velline on 4 August 1967.

 Her first daughter and fourth children, Jennifer Joanne Velline, was born on 31 May 1972

Her Lung Transplant And Death

She had a lung transplant in 2012 at a Duke University Hospital in North Carolina due to rare noncancerous lung conditions.

 She used an oxygen tank for almost six years before her death. 

She died at the age of 71 due to kidney failure. She died late-night Monday at the University of Minnesota Hospital in Minneapolis on 4 August 2015

Her Husband's Death

He was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2011 at that time; her beloved wife was with him. He announced that he had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's publicly on 29 April 2012.

He had been taken care at home for 13 months before his death. He died on 24 October 2016 at the age of 73. His children and a family member were there at the time of his last breath.
