Judy Murray

Judy Murray is a Scottish-born British tennis player who is also an enthusiastic mother of two professional tennis stars Andy and Jamie Murray. 

She grew up playing tennis in the junior and senior-level, where she won 64 titles, but her professional career was disrupted, which led her to quit at the end. 

She was honoured with Officer of the Order of British Empire (OBE) in 2017 at Buckingham Palace.

Andy Murray is the first British man to win a Grand Slam singles titles with multiple Wimbledon titles since 1936 and the only tennis player to win two Olympic Singles titles, had announced his retirement in 2019. 

He emotionally shared the sad news of his retirement in a press conference because of his developing hip injury, making him suffer and struggle for a long time.  

But his second hip surgery gave him a second chance, and he is back on his career field. 

Her marriage could not last long 

Judy was married to William Murray in 1980. William Murray hails from Dunblane and is the regional manager of Scottish newsagent chain RS McColl. 

The couple decided to split after 25 years of their marital relationship and give birth to their children. 

Andy was just ten years old when the couple got divorced. William re-married his partner of 12 years, Sam Watson, in a luxury Dunblane hotel in 2016, which both of his sons attended.

Andy and Jamie credit both of their parents equally for their successful career, although Judy is mostly highlighted as she actively supports her son's matches. 

In an interview, Jamie shared his father's parenting, washing, and ironing, ferrying around tournaments. He also said that although he is in the background but is a great dad for them.

Andy exchanged his wedding vows with his long-time girlfriend Kim Sears on April 2015, in his hometown. 

The wedding took place at 12th Century Dunblane Cathedral, and a private ceremony attends by family members and close friends.

Andy has three kids, Edie Murray, Teddy Barron Murray, and Sophia Olivia Murray.

Gifted with two siblings 

Born to her parents Roy Eskrine and Eileen Shirley Edney, Judy Is gifted with two younger brothers, Keith and Naill.
