Jose Bordalas

Jose Bordalas is one of the renowned football managers of this world. He is the current manager of Valencia CF. As a former striker, he played for Hercules CF with a contract of seven years from 1980 to 1987. 

He was loaned five times to several clubs before joining Denia in 1987, followed by Torrevieja, Petrelense, Espanol San Vicente, respectively. 

His playing career was derailed by injuries that subsequently led to his retirement at 28. Jose had a first serious knee injury at the age of 16 and since then suffered several relapses.

He married young but later divorced 

Jose married at a young age. He was just 18 when he first became a father. However, his marriage could not survive. 

After becoming the parents of two, a son and a daughter, the couple parted ways. Jose shares a close bond with his kids, who are now grown-up. 

Jose worked as much as he could to sustain his family. Taking his football career along, he worked every possible work. He worked as a delivery man, in an insurance company, in a book store, etc.

Having divorced his first wife, Jose found love once again. He is currently in a relationship with a woman whose name he has not mentioned yet to maintain a private life.

Jose was born in a large and humble family in Alicante. He was the eighth child of ten children in the family. 

Growing up along with his nine siblings, four brothers, and five sisters always provided him a sense of security. He never felt lonely as his siblings always surrounded him. 

He describes the memories of his childhood to be beautiful and endearing. Living in a large family taught him the value of hard work and respect towards others that eventually helped him in his career. 

He is the only one to choose a football career. One of his brothers attempted but did not go pro. The siblings share an incredibly close bond still to these days. 

Although their parents are no more in this world, they all together stay in touch. Jose has never forgotten his roots and the place of his origins. He keeps visiting his birthplace and often spends quality time with his childhood friends 

Never to be down for too long is one of his virtues

Jose has dedicated more than two decades of his life to his coaching career. During his journey, he has experienced success, failures, disappointments, everything. 

He was sacked from the managerial post after his first season at Alaves despite having taken the club back to La Liga after ten years. 

It was a surprising and disappointing moment for Jose as the team only informed at the last moment. 

Though it was heart-breaking for him, he took it as an encouragement to bounce back. To never be down for too long has been one of his virtues that has kept him moving. 

Following his departure from Alaves, Jose was appointed the manager of Getafe in September 2016. His five years at the helm led the team to the top flight promotion. 

In the 2017-18 seasons, he again led the team to eighth position and later to fifth and played for the championship league spot till the last matchday. He took over Valencia in May 2021.

What he loves outside football?

Jose is fond of bulls. His love for bulls developed from his brother, a bullfighter, but unfortunately, his brother's career was derailed because of an accident. 

Besides that, Jose is fond of cinemas and fond of the city Rome which he often visits. He has even tattooed some of the Roman symbols, including the date of birth of his children.
