Jordy Caicedo

Jordy Caicedo is a professional footballer who plays as a forward for Liga MX club Tigres UANL and Ecuador national football team. 

His childhood and his career so far

Caicedo was born and raised in the Nuevo Pilo neighborhood in Machala. He grew up playing soccer with friends on the street. 

He sometimes played soccer in the “rich boy” neighborhood where he used to bet, and there was no record of him losing the bet.

When he was 15, he had an unsuccessful trial with Brazilian side Santos. 

At the age of 17, he scored a goal for Deportivo Azogues that caught the eye of Universidad Catolica Jorge Celico and had a brief stint at Universidad Catolica before starting a senior career with the club in 2015.

He was a part of Sub 20 in 2017, where he scored a hat trick, and was a part of the Sub 20 World Cup, where he scored a goal. 

Then he played for El Nacional on loan before joining Vitoria. By joining Vitoria, he became the first Ecuadorian to play for the club. 

Before joining Mexican side Tigres UANL in 2022, he played a season for Bulgarian side CSKA Sofia where he had a remarkable rise scoring 23 goals in 42 appearances.

On the 4th of June, 2021, he made his debut in the senior national team in a World Cup qualifying match against Brazil, and later, on the 25th of March 2022 scored his first goal for the national team by converting a penalty in another World Cup qualifying match against Paraguay.

Caicedo, in an interview, said he already knew what Tigres was before he arrived at the club because he had many Ecuadorian playing there, like Hurtado, Joffre Guerron, and especially Enner Valencia, to whom he contacted and asked him what the city was like and what the club was like. 

Besides that, he also knew that it had great players and that it was a club that had always been fighting and had just played in the Club World Cup final. 

“I knew it was a big club, and it was just a matter of getting soaked more.

He also expressed that he wants to learn a lot from the Frenchman Andre-Pierre Gignac, who is described as a powerful and dangerous striker.

Engaged to be married

Caicedo is happily engaged to his girlfriend, Jaqueline Cabezas. His soon-to-be wife is active on TikTok and has amassed 11.8 k followers on her account. 

Caicedo says that his partner forces him to do TikTok with her every time and insists he dance and practice, but he is bad at that.

He is a father of one

Caicedo and his lady love recently became parents of their beautiful little baby girl. 

Caicedo, in a podcast, said he is very happy since welcoming his daughter and can’t imagine the joy he can feel. 

He was playing against Leon at the time of her birth, and as soon as the game ended, he left to see his wife and daughter. 

The couple named their daughter Georgia combing the name of his and his wife.
