Johnny Sequoyah

Johnny Sequoyah is an American actress. She was born in Los Angeles to her film and television producer mother Heather Rae, and actor and writer-director father, Russell Friedenberg. 

She stayed at her mother’s home state of Idaho until she was eight.

How did she become an overnight TV star?

Johnny had been intrigued by watching actors from her parent’s movie units since a very young age. 

Initially, her mother and father hesitated because they knew the path was not an easy one. 

They finally were convinced by her PowerPoint, where she had all the explanations they needed to let her be an actress and let her audition. 

She was eight when she began acting in independent films.

At 12, her parents notified her that she had to be at a stay-away camp, and for Johnny, the stay-away camp would give a panic attack. 

It was during the same time when her mother and father were working on their new film “Among Ravens.” So her father wrote a part for her in the film, which surprisingly became the central focus of the film.

Johnny was quickly signed by Untitled Management when the film was shown as work–in–progress. 

At her second audition, she booked the NBC series “Believe.” 

According to her father, Johnny, who was 10 at the time, did not know what it meant to her at first since their life at 10 is all about friends and family. 

They were shocked to see Johnny everywhere after the marketing of the show and at the same were concerned about her safety and psychological wellbeing, thinking, what if she became one of those Hollywood kids that just sat around taking selfies all day? 

However, their concern soon disappeared, knowing Johnny did not give a crap about all of those.

She has two siblings who have no interest in the entertainment world

She has two elder brothers, Chema and Emilio. Her brothers were born to her mother from her previous relationships. 

Chema and Emilio have zero interest in the entertainment world and prefer to stay out of the spotlight.

She is one of the new faces to “Dexter” Universe

After her notable role in J.J. Abrams and Alfonso Cuaron’s NBC series Believe, where she played the lead role as Bo Adams, she is now popular from her other notable role.

Currently, she is starring in the miniseries Dexter: New Blood (2021). She is playing the character Audrey, an opinionated adopted teenage daughter of her single mom Angela Bishop, a police chief. 

She is one of the new faces of the “Dexter Universe.” The original Dexter is 24th times Emmy nominee and four times Emmy winner. 

The ninth season of Dexter was premiered on the 7th of November, 2021, nearly after a decade of the series finale in 2013.
