John T. Melick

John Tunis Melick is a producer, assistant director, and a familiar name in the Hollywood business. He is also the half-brother of actress Jennifer Aniston.

Early life, family, and siblings 

John's parents are Jack Melick and Nancy Dow. His mother, Nancy Maryanne Dow, was an American actress who starred in many small films. 

She first married John Aniston from 1956 to 1961. They had a daughter Jennifer Aniston who is also only sibling of John. She then separated from her husband and started a family with Jack Melick.

John and his half-sister Jennifer share a close bond. They are seen together in many movie awards and events as both of them are in the entertainment business.

Relationship, marriage, and children

John has been married to Shannon Melick. Their wedding took place in August 11th 1995. Their is not much information on how they met and started dating.

The family was increased with two children. Melick has not revealed a lot of his personal life and especially his family. 

Abusive mother 

John's sister Jennifer became a household name in the early 1990s after starring in the world's famous sitcom Friends. Despite her success, her relationship with her mother failed at a very early age.

Aniston confessed to her mother's toxic traits. Childhood with her mother was also a battle. Nancy's life in front of the cameras had corrupted her standards; she expected perfection from her child at all times. 

This obsession with her daughter's image was no doubt the legacy of the business in which Nancy had spent much of her life. Jennifer confessed

"She criticized me so much. Since she was a model, she was stunning and beautiful, and I was not". 

This created huge amounts of insecurity in young Jennifer. Nancy's actions did not end with negative remarks about the looks of her daughter. 

She was quite unforgiving as well. 

"She'd be holding grudges I just found too petty."

Jennifer admitted. But Jennifer remembers the one moment that marked her permanently, in her friendship with her mother. Nancy had a temper, something he couldn't identify with Jennifer. She added

"I've never been told that I can yell."

Once Jennifer tried to stand up for herself, and when she did, her mother laughed at her. This made her feel worthless as she recalls that it was a "punch in the stomach."

John comes forward after his mother's death

Melick is quite well known to be a very private person, so is Jennifer. The public had never seen John come out of his house. 

This recently changed after he was seen running errands near a car dealer shop with paperwork in his hand.

This was after his mother, Nancy Dow, passed away from an illness.

Jennifer said so in the declaration given to People magazine, saying that, 

"It is with deep sorrow that my half-brother John and I announce the demise of our mother, Nancy Dow. Since battling a long illness, she was 79 years old and passed away comfortably surrounded by relatives and friends."
