John was born John Lloyd Deans.

He did a series of cool things in his life

Deans did a variety of jobs in his life. He worked for the FBI. Heather, his middle child, was born in California

At the time, he was at the language institute in Monterey.

Heather, in an interview, explained that he did a number of cool things like Russian espionage and then parlayed that into a bureau of land management.

He discovered Indian aircraft. He then transitioned into an oil and gas company which was what he primarily did when they were in Colorado

By the time the oil and gas company crashed, he had developed other businesses and franchises, so he had the opportunity to extend those franchises in Utah

When Heather was 15, the family moved from Denver to Salt Lake City

Deans was the head security when the Denver temple was dedicated, and he would drive the prophet.

The family of committed Mormons

Deans and his wife, Susan Deans, were committed Mormons. Not only them but their six children, including Heather, were also Mormons.

Heather, while describing her upbringing, said she grew up superior, felt wealthy, and felt sad for people that weren’t Mormons.

It was her whole world. Her best friends were Mormons. The family did an early morning scripture study.

According to Heather, they had to follow along on their books of Mormons at 6 a.m., which she hated but at the same time loved it because she felt safe and structured.

Besides that, she also explained how she struggled with the rules and boundaries.

The rules were they were not allowed to drink, or smoke, swear, kiss boys really, go on dates, but she was sort of a wild child, and she wanted to experience anything and everything, but she knew no matter what she did, she had to come home and be Mormon.

She admitted to not having an open conversation with her parents because they didn’t want to know, and she didn’t want to tell them.

Heather now no more considers herself a Mormon.

She said she never considered herself a Mormon because that’s what she steeped in her entire life, but she is not practicing it and does not believe it.

She thinks it can be very, very destructive.

Heather was married to a devout Mormon

Growing up as a Mormon, Heather was married to a devout Mormon with whom she shares three grown-up daughters.

They were married for 11 years before they got divorced in 2015, and Heather has full custody and full charge of raising their three daughters while her ex-husband financially supports them.

While talking to Bravo’s Daily Dish, she said she and her ex-husband split four years prior to their official divorce.

She also expressed that it’s still painful. She can barely say ex-husband as she always says girl’s father or husband.

She never leads with her being divorced and doesn’t understand why.

Deans had a strained relationship with Heather before his death

Heather, on her show “RHOSLC,“ revealed that her decision to leave the Mormon church caused them to have a strained relationship.

She said that her relationship with her father changed not long before his death.

Things were very, very strained, and the last time they had a conversation was on Christmas, four months before his demise.

She understands how much her decision to leave Mormon had affected her father but wanted to continue making him proud.

She says she still feels compelled to honor his name and legacy, but the toughest part about that is her father was super proud to be Mormon.

He loved being Mormon and loved sharing the gospel with people.

Heather held a memorial for him a year after his demise

Deans passed away on the 17th of April 2022 after being diagnosed with Cancer.

Heather revealed that the memorial took place a year after his death amid the Covid pandemic because her family didn’t have a public funeral because of the pandemic.

Heather and her family gathered to pay respect at Deans’s gravesite in Provo, Utah.

Still, sadly Deans’s Mormon family, including his wife and most of his kids, did not attend the memorial.

Talking about her family’s absence at the memorial, she said that she felt that it would be a compromise of their values and a betrayal of faith if they were to endorse her anyway.

Net Worth

Since he is no more in this world, we have the net worth of his daughter Heather which is estimated to be around $2 million.

Age

  1. He was born on the 8th of August, 1944.
