John Alexander Crowe

John Alexander Crowe is the celebrity father of an actor, filmmaker, musician, and singer from New Zealand named Russell Crowe.

Smoking:

Russell used to be known as a heavy smoker. He started smoking at the age of 10 and has been smoking regularly since then. 

Russell even admitted once that he would smoke more than 60 cigarettes per day, and he has been doing that for over 36 years. 

He also added that he stopped smoking and quit smoking for his two sons.  

Later in a show with David Letterman, he admitted that he had “fallen off the wagon,” as he said and smoked heavily before the show started.

Denied citizenship:

Though Russell has been living in Australia for a long time now and had spent a lot of his childhood there, he has been denied Australian citizenship twice already, stating that he has lived in other countries more than he has been in Australia. 

Still, he hasn’t given up hope yet.

The kidnapping:

Russell once revealed how the FBI agents had approached him before the 2001 Academy awards after discovering that a terrorist group called al-Qaeda was planning to kidnap him. 

He also revealed how it could be related to the recording that was picked up by a French policewoman. 

Rugby team:

Russell had his own rugby team named South Sydney Rabbitohs, but he sold it in an online auction because he wanted to collect funds to help the Australian bushfire that took place in 2019 and 2020.

He raised over $400,000 for the NSW RFS.
