Joe Giudice

Joe Giudice is a reality television personality famous for being an ex-husband of Real Housewives of New Jersey (RHONJ) star Teresa Giudice. 

Born in Italy, Joe was one year old when his parents took him to Paterson, New Jersey. 

He previously worked as a construction builder and owned a restaurant in Jersey. He rose to fame, appearing in the reality show RHONJ along with his wife.

What went wrong in their 20 years of marriage?

Joe and Teresa exchanged their wedding vows on the 23rd of October, 1999, after dating for several years. 

Their marriage was not always an easy ride. The couple came into the limelight after The Real Housewives of New Jersey premiered in 2009. 

They first filed for divorce in 2009 but later renewed their wedding vows in September 2011. 

During season 4, i.e., 2012 of the reality show the Housewives were on the trip to Napa, when Joe was caught on camera calling his spouse “my bitch wife” and “c-t.” He was also accused of cheating on his spouse being in touch with his long-term girlfriend. 

One of the on-off friends of Teresa also confronted them being in an abusive marriage, which they both denied. 

Then in 2013, the couple started facing legal problems that led the couple to jail sentences, with Joe having to serve 41 months and Teresa 15 months, but Teresa was released after serving 11 months of the jail sentence. 

In 2018, Joe was ordered to be deported to his native Italy. In 2019, Teresa confessed to not doing a long-distance relationship during the RHONJ union. 

She wanted somebody to be with her every day and was sure that Joe would be with other women. 

She knew the long-distance relationship was not going to work. The couple confirmed their split in December 2019 and finalized their divorce in less than a year.

For what reasons Joe and his ex were sentenced to jail?

The legal trouble for Joe started in 2004 following the accusation of failing to file tax returns which continued up to 2008. 

For the ex-couple, the legal trouble started from 2013 which started from the accusation of exaggerating their income when they were applying for loans back in 2009. 

It was before the premiere of the reality show. After the show aired, they were further accused of hiding their increased assets in bankruptcy. 

In 2014, they were convicted of mail, wire, and bankruptcy fraud. 

They were supposed to complete probation reports listing their assets and specific financial information but withheld the information in the court. 

As per the judge, there were still missing items worth $75,000. Since the law does not consider anyone, the couple was sentenced to jail, with Teresa having to serve 15 months and Joe 41 months. 

Teresa began her sentence first on the 5th of January,2015, while Joe and the children stayed at the Towaco section of Montville, New Jersey. 

Teresa was released two days before Christmas in 2015 after serving 11 months in prison, while Joe was released in March 2019, beginning his 41-month sentence in March 2016 and was transferred to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody and relocated to Italy in October 2019 since he was ordered to be deported in his native in 2018. 

He is splitting his time between Italy and the Bahamas.

Not in a rush to get married for the second time

Joe broke up with his girlfriend Daniela Fittipaldi, whom he had been dating since the summer of 2020. 

He had made his relationship official in December, but in December 2021, they broke up. 

He said he had no intention of getting married at the time as he needed to get situated first. 

He added he is not in a rush and feels he will find someone he will settle with as he does not feel any older. 

He would not mind attending his ex-wife’s wedding

Teresa got engaged to her fiancé Luis 'Louie' Ruelas in October 2021 during her vacation to Greece nearly after 15 months of dating.

Joe expressed his warm wishes to the couple. During an appearance in Housewives nightcap, Joe said of not having an issue with his ex’s marriage to Luis. 

He also said he and Luis had met earlier and praised Luis, saying him a good guy. When the question was asked if he would attend their wedding, without hesitation, he replied, saying why not.

Relationship with his daughters 

Joe is the father of his four daughters, Gia, 21, Gabriella, 18, Milania, 15, and Audriana, 13. He shares a close relationship with his daughters. 

Though he does not get to see his daughters, he talks to them every time via phone calls and FaceTime and also, his daughters visit him in his native as much as they can. 

On the occasion of father’s day in June 2020, Teresa wished happy fathers day, mentioning Joe. 

She wrote, “Happy fathers day @joe.giudice. The girls miss you today & every day! to which Joe commented, #thankyoubestmomever.

Joe is fighting to get back to the U.S. to see his daughters, be physically present for them, and be part of their daily lives. He has hired a new attorney to solve the deportation case.
